Nick’s podcast is such a gift. It should be required listening. It is heartfelt and heartbreaking. It is lyrical and it is arresting. He is the best in the game at editing and storytelling and creating a platform of trust for his guests to open up and introspect.

I really enjoy listening to Nick and his guests. I do not have children myself, but the discussions, both about parenthood and manhood, remain relevant to me as they address many issues true for all men, both as children and now as adults. Nick’s podcasts are very well crafted and very insightful, and can be very helpful to women wanting to gain a deeper understanding of what goes on in our (men’s) minds. I highly recommend you listen to Nick and his guests. Bravo.

…so well done. I landed on it on a roadtrip. We just kept listening for hours. Thought, soul, craft, and purpose are words that come to mind. They slow me down while filling me up and give me a little more connection to other paternal figures. I wish my dad was still alive so I could listen with him. I actually don’t know if jewels are hand crafted…but you get what I mean. It sounded better than “hand crafted jewelery”

This is such a great podcast for both men and women. I really enjoy the topics and the perspective shared by the guests. Paternal gives an alternative point of view to listeners typically masked by societies notions of what it means to be a Father.

Hearing Nick in dialogue with other members of the “brotherhood of fatherhood” always provides me something upon which to reflect. Every conversation will provide you another facet of modern fatherhood to contemplate. Highly recommended.

So much to say about this Podcast. To start, it’s deeply honest. It’s raw at times. There’s a few episodes that I had to pause and take a moment and prepare because often times these men go places that are not only difficult, but undeniably relatable. Somehow, their words reach a place where even I dare not go. I myself am a young father with two girls under 3. I am also a son with a rather complex relationship with his own father. This podcast has helped to delve deep into my thoughts and feelings, especially as of late. It has also shined a light on my relationship with my dad and his own life, a light that did not shine before. This has been somewhat of a bridge to enlightenment to what means to be a man, a son, and most importantly, a father. I heavily recommend this to the fathers out there, but it’s not limited to that demographic. Men who are in transition; men who are confused, lost, angry; sons who are at a loss with the relationship with their father; men who want to be fathers and ones who don’t; women who want to better understand their men, all of these types of people could benefit and appreciate the interviews in this podcast.

It’s so rare to hear men speak openly about what’s made them who they are and thoughtfully about who they want to become. The episodes are always touching and thought-provoking and beautifully produced.

As a father and a son, and someone who is very passionate about those relationships, the topics here always inspire thought, even if not all situations resonate as much personally. And the infusion of broader themes around “modern manhood” make this a holistic package every guy should listen to (and probably their partners as well). Nick is also a tier 1 host with stellar production that rivals any podcast out there.

I recently found out the man who raised me is not my biological father. It hit me really hard and I struggle sometimes. It’s nice to hear stories about other people going thru similar things. My story is a bit different, but similar! I was looking for a pod cast on girls finding there biological father when I found this one. Apparently there are not many out there or I was searching the wrong thing.. Any ways it was a great ride home today! Thank you!!!!

I started listening to Nick when he was with MLS doing their soccer podcast. He’s a natural story teller and I’ve been very impressed by this show. As a father-to-be later this summer, this show has really caused me to be more introspective about what kind of parent I want to be. I’m very thankful to Nick for doing this podcast.

There are podcasts put out by professional organizations that aren’t half as good as this. Paternal is thoughtful and insightful. Really enjoy this podcast.

Taking apart the role of father; the challenges and the emotions and the baggage and the modeling and the sheer drudgery of some parts; I would have never thought a topic like this is worthy of exploration. I certainly thought it might be too touchy feely. It’s not. It is engaging and thought provoking and moving, but not heavy-handed or melodramatic. Nick Firchau has a gift for finding great stories and conducting succinct, good interviews. The season 2 finale is also some of the best storytelling/ podcasting you’ll ever hear.

Every morning while eating breakfast, Nick is my companion. This podcast is extremely inspirational and insightful. I’m not a father but every episode I listen to, inspires me to become a better person personally and professionally.

I’m a mom of two young girls and I still love this podcast even though it is more directed at dads and raising boys. Great conversations and guests talking real life stuff. Great production all around! Thanks Nick.

The stories in this podcast are so compelling that even listeners with no interest in becoming parents will be captivated. Great production. My favorite new podcast of the year.

I was beyond fortunate to come across this podcast a few months back. My wife and I are expecting our first child in August and listening to these stories has introduced me to many lessons/ideas that I should take heed of. Thank you Nick.

This isn't a basement podcast, it's a professionally-done look at some of the invisible issues facing fathers every day by an interviewer who knows how to ask the right questions.

I am thrilled that Nick Firchau took the time to start this podcast. There aren’t nearly enough resources out there for fathers who want to hear stories of support and love from other dads, and Paternal executes this brilliantly.

Certainly captures a feeling of mine: wanting to be a different Dad than the one knew without being overly critical of him or so arrogant as to think I can remake the nuclear American family. It's a behavior you see in other Dads around you, but classically, the guys aren't doing a great job talking about it. Looking forward to future episodes.
