In the Oval Office during a bilateral meeting focused on the U.S.-Iran conflict and securing the Strait of Hormuz, President Donald Trump defended the lack of advance notice to allies about strikes on Iran. Turning to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, he said, "We didn't tell anybody about it because we wanted surprise. Who knows better about surprise than Japan?
