This past weekend we had the Formula 1 Silverstone Grand Prix in UK.
There was a new race format that was tested. On Friday we had practice 1 and Qualifying, On Saturday we had Practice 2 and sprint qualifying. and finally, on Sunday, we had the main race.
Max Verstappen went in the weekend as the championship favorite but the Mercedes brought updates to their car and Lewis was hoping to win in front of his home crowd.
Friday's qualifying went to Lewis, as he took P1 to start the Sprint Qualifying race on Saturday.
Sprint qualifying went to Max as he passed Lewis into Turn 1 and won the race for pole position.
Sunday's race went to Lewis.
He chased Max from the start and as they went into Copse corner they touched and Max went into the barrier at 51G's. He came out winded but ok and went to the local hospital for checks. The race was red-flagged and Lewis was handed a 10-second penalty.
At the race restart, Leclerc started from the lead and Lewis second. Lewis later served his penalty when he pitted for the hard tyres and drove a superb comeback to win the race.
He is now 8 points behind Max in the Drivers Championship.
I'm your Host Mbalu Makau and tonight, my guest is Gloria

Happy 4th of July to my American fans.
In the last three weeks, we have had three F1 races, France, and a doubleheader in Austria. the First was the Styrian Grand Prix and the other was the Austrian Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen has come as the winner in all three races putting him 32 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the lead of the F1 driver's championship.
Redbulls new engine upgrade in France seems to have paid dividends. It is still too early to call who will take the drivers championship as things can change overnight
In this episode, Max started from pole position and lead the race from the start to the chequered flag. Lewis started from P4 and overtook both Perez and Norris but suffered some damage to the aero at turn 10 and dropped to finish 4th. Norris started from P2 and dropped places after a 5 second time penalty for sending Perez into the gravel after turn 4, but he worked that Mclaren back to finish on the podium in P3 just behind Bottas. He was also voted as the driver of the day.
Perez dripped places to P10 after he went wide and onto the gravel in his quest to pass Norris in turn 4. The stewards also penalized him two 5-second time penalties for pushing Leclerc wide twice.
The next race is in two weeks at Silverstone UK.

The French Grand Prix. Max lost the lead to Lewis into turn one when he suffered oversteer and the rear of the Redbull did not settle down at the start of the race. Lewis led until the first round of pit stops then Max undercut the took the lead.
It was during his stint with the hard tyres that Redbull decided to gamble on a second pit stop. Max took on the hard tyres and started chasing down Bottas and Lewis.
With about two laps left he passed Lewis for the lead and extended his championship lead by 8 more points having also taken the fastest lap.
This win he worked for and it was payback to Mercedes for Barcelona

Canadian Grand Prix. The circuit lies on Notre Dame Island in Montreal.
We did not have a Grand Prix this year due to the Covid 19 pandemic. The race was scheduled for 11th to 13th June 2021 but it was cancelled.
I had a chat with a young F1 fan, my son Lee. He is 12 years old. He has grown up watching me love the sport and shares some of the memories of our favorite races in Canada.
