good interviewer
Justin can be a bit of an iconoclast on twitter, but that’s just the way the medium works. In his podcast I’ve seen him be a very sensitive and inquisitive interviewer. It’s one of my top listens, lately.

The Best
I’ve been really over podcasts lately. It seems that most in the theory/philosophy genre are too long and watered down. Why listen to somebody’s thirty-something vocal fry recite some partially indigested interpretation on like Debord when you could go and read it yourself? With Justin, this is not the case. His solo lectures are always engaging. In these shorter episodes he always has an idea or interpretation of the culture that is insightful and original.

I’m a simple man, I see Riva, I listen. Good interview. Not afraid to break his own rules. You should try to get @AkiraTheDon on the podcast.

Off the beaten track
If you enjoy hearing about things you've never heard about before (and really - is there any better reason to listen to podcasts?) then you've come to the right place. Worth the time.

Best Sensemaking podcast of the year
I’ve listened to a number of talks produced by Justin Murphy and have been incredibly impressed by the quality of his podcast. Especially the nuance that gets unpacked with his guests. A must listen.

This podcast is fire
Justin has built/is building one of the most interesting, independent intellectual projects on the internet. Highly recommend tuning in.

Listen to keep up with the times
In a sea of digital chaos, Justin navigates his ship of serious inquiry through the maelstrom. How can the rapid change of the present that is rocking all institutions be understood? Not inside academia, that’s clear, which is why Justin left to pursue independent intellectual life. This podcast is highly relevant to anyone trying to keep up with the pace of change, and a must if you want to ride the waves of change with confidence. We need more personable individuals who discuss intellectual issues and themes for a general audience. A+

Fantastic podcast
Justin Murphy is a truly visionary thinker whose instincts and assessments concerning the direction of the times cannot be ignored by anyone seeking to get to the bottom of the changes we can all feel but may not quite be able to articulate. In his work generally, and in the Other Life podcast specifically, he engages with all the cutting edge thought leaders and rogue intellectuals who are shaping a world outside the decrepit institutional structure of the current order. Listening to this podcast is an essential first step in your journey toward a reconceptualization of how you thought the future would look. A must-follow!

Thoughtful and brilliant
Phenomenal podcast - great thinkers and detailed, thoughtful discussions that never dumb themselves down. Intelligence of the audience is assumed, and the conversations go in weird, fantastic directions that illuminate the future. Recommend!

Entertaining, Engaging, and Honest
Justin has a unique perspective that grants novel insight into the dynaimics of social/political systems that is unrivaled by any other thinker I've seen. In fact, Other life was one of the key factors that convinced me to continue on my academic track after having profound doubts about the nature of contemporary academia. In addition, Justin has a sincerity and honesty that makes him relatable and easy to root for in our generally fake and irony-poisoned time. I especially respect him for his willingness to engage with and support younger people, such as his intern Ben and even myself. I highly reccomend Other Life to anyone interested in an exit from contemporary discourse. You wont regret it.

Antimimetic criticality
Loosely reminiscent of other ‘intellectual dark web’ types, Justin takes the tools of his academic training and removes them from the institution of academia. The result is a fresh, critical, and bold podcast series with hot - but honest - takes on ethics, current events, and how to live an ‘other life’ on the internet.

Yes Justin!
Independent voice advocating for exit through the online door - IT’S GREAT! Justin is inspiring, fun, and so smart. I feel more optimistic about our future every time I listen to or read content from Justin.

Uniquely interesting
As a boomer with a Sociology Phd who retains a residual interest in nascent social/cultural movements emerging off the radar, I have found this podcast indispensable. Justin scans this space, presents findings clearly and extracts the maximum content from guests who represent intellectual/economic/political counter cultures I could never identify. In addition, his academic credentials/experience/skills are apparent in both teaching mode and the analytical thinking out loud. Generally have the impression that I am witnessing a live hyper active intellectual inquiry by someone who is incapable of shading either his opinions or his goals. You can take it or leave it which is the point. Also, the recent course offerings have previewed exceptionally qualified instructors most of whom found themselves un-welcomed in academic institutions. In an era where being cast out of academe has become an attractive teaching credential, they are worth a look.

Frequent and fascinating
Wonderful guests, refreshingly fast-paced and to-the-point discussions on timely, resonant topics. As a longtime Against Everyone with Conner Habib listener, this podcast is a welcome addition to my library! (Plz have Conner on as a guest hehe). Thanks for your commitment to this work!!

Compared Gretta to Jeffrey Epstein...
Just another happily married incel calmly yelling into the void with a wide assortment of guests. First podcast that made me actively want to come back for each and every episode. Love the hot-takes.

Justin is a unique voice. I agree with very little that he says but admire his approach.

Great conversations
You can always count on this podcast to be challenging, intelligent, and above all interesting. Haven’t heard a boring episode yet.
Aaron Hierholzer
Eclectic, intelligent, enjoyably casual
One of the few politico-philosophical-podcasters who is genuinely (almost dogmatically) open-minded, with a guest-list to prove it. His academic background gives a self-assuredness: Never a ‘yes-man’ to guests, nor are his personal values vague or inconsistent, despite the wide range of subjects and guests. He’s the real deal. each podcast feels like a call to action and artistry. He is also a filthy thief who exploits the self-checkouts and uses a bunch of ethical jargon and anti-automation sentiments to rationalize his naughtiness—but nobody is perfect.

Justin’s podcast is steadily improving. I appreciate that he releases most of his content free of charge. Each episode is both intellectually stimulating and spiritually grounding.

Stay clear of this guy
This guy says he wants to have sex with a 16 year old girl and tells us there’s nothing wrong with it. Why support a child predator?

I’m giving four stars because I really don’t wanna mess up your great rating too much. I gave it four stars because you seem like a GREAT listener and that should be highly valued in podcasts. You’re not interrupting and you’re asking great questions and you seem really inquisitive which I love. The only thing that slightly bothers me in there seems to be a great deal more men than women that you speak to me. I’m not sure why this bothers me so much, I just value women so much and love hearing their perspective on things and I really don’t care if this angers or offends anyone! It’s just my review and I’m only saying it because you seem like someone who’s interested in a VAST variety of subjects so this podcast could be so informative. It’s just a personal thing for me where I find it hard to listen or take a lot from a lot of men. I don’t think men are dumb or anything I just highly value women and I want to hear from them. Women are very smart.

Insightful and interesting
Justin Murphy is an engaging young academic committed to living the examined life. He's unafraid to engage with the strange beasts that are hatching in the "here be dragons" margins of the philosophical map. He speaks in long sentences with lots of parentheticals, and he has a cute habit of cracking himself up. His interviews are long and contain lots of filler, but the insights are worth the wait.
