作者李渔(1611-1680年)，是明末清初杰出的戏曲和小说作家。李渔，原名仙侣，号天征，字笠翁，祖籍在浙江兰溪下李村,生于雉皋(即今江苏如皋)。《笠翁对韵》，是他仿《声律启蒙》写的作诗的韵书。
