On Sunday, before half the group left, we went for dinner at Babylone café. It was a blues night. My little girl dances blues, and she is organizing an event in september called Roadhouse Blues. So when the band finished playing, a bunch of my friends insisted that I go play and I took all my little courage to walk to the piano.
After a few songs, I left the piano but the crowd wanted more. More specifically, Dan asked me to teach him that song that lots of people know as a duo. I showed him the basic rhythm and notes, he played by himself a bit and then I started adding stuff, and it was so fun.
Dan kept practicing the song and learning the other part and managed to play it all before leaving. This song is a pattern to allow an easy collaboration, so this week I am using this pattern as a base for this new opus. Next time, maybe I can play this one as a duo with him.

J’ai eu beaucoup de visiteurs en fin de semaine. Mon ami Dan, un incroyable Australien vivant maintenant à Toronto, était en visite, et plusieurs de nos amis de Montréal sont venu faire la fête avec nous. Il y avait des gens qui dormait dans chaque recoins de la maison, de bon repas, et beaucoup d’amour. A un certain point on fonctionnait comme une intelligence collective, c’était étrange mais si amusant!
Dimanche, avant que la moitié du groupe parte, nous sommes allés souper au Babylobe café. C’était une soirée blues. Mon amie danse le blue, elle organise une soirée en septembre appelée Roadhouse Blues. Alors quand le groupe de musique a terminé, plusieurs ont insisté pour que j’aille jouer et j’ai prit tout mon petit courage pour me rendre au piano.
Après quelques chansons, j’ai quitté le piano mais la foule en redemandait. Plus spécifiquement, Dan m’a demandé de lui montrer cette chanson que beaucoup de gens jouent en duo. Je lui ai montré le rythme et les notes de base, il a joué un peu par lui même et je me suis mise à ajouter, c’était si amusant.
Dan a continué à pratiquer et apprendre l’autre partie et a réussi à tout jouer avant de quitter. Cette chanson est en réalité un motif qui rend la collaboration facile. Alors cette semaine, j’ai utilisé ce motif comme base pour ce nouvel opus. La prochaine fois, je pourrai peut-être jouer celui-ci en duo avec lui.
