Sentimental and mental =a whole lotta fun!
My husband and I have made this podcast apart of our evening routine. When we want to turn off screens but also want to get out of our heads, this podcast is delightful. Jason, Dan and Fred have such a fantastic rapport, riffing and improving off each other, clearly having an absolute blast remembering the past. Their vulnerable and open shares, which move from hysterical to joyful or painfully relatable about their childhoods are based on the dates the movies they’re reviewing were released. Adding on pop cultural quirks and references that will make you laugh or feel the fuzzies, plus the movies!! . They have reignited movies for me that I haven’t seen in a while but want to see again now. And introduced me to movies that I never would have bothered with but now see differently through there eyes. Their passion for Cinema is infectious. It takes a few episodes for them to find their flow and pace so I but stick with it. It’s definitely worth it.

So much glorious nostalgia
I wish I remembered even a fraction of what these guys remember from childhood. Their acute memories combined with their excellent insights and hilarious interplay make this podcast an absolute joy to experience. Shoutout to Dan’s hand fart performances, which are nothing short of astounding.

A movie-lover’s paradise with substance
Just a brilliantly conceived podcast that perfectly combines delicious nostalgia, irreverent comedy, and truly intelligent discussions about cinema.
Thats’s my favorite part. The brilliant insights that pretty frequently fall out of these guys’ mouths. They make me want to watch, not only the good movies, but the bad ones too. They really understand good storytelling and character and structure, and just simply, what makes a good movie. But there’s no snobbery involved here. All genres and stories are welcome.
The nostalgia of it all is so fun, makes you revisit your past along with the guys. And their rapport is infectious, obviously the result of a long and deep friendship. Just to listen to them go back and forth about nothing as good friends do is a real delight :)

This pod ROCKS!!!
When I listen to this podcast, not only do I get to relive some of the favorite moments of my youth and some of the favorite movies of my youth, but I get to feel like I’m hanging out with all of my best buds from high school! This is the most charming, funny, delightful trio, and they have brought a necessary levity to these dark times. So fun. So cool. So 80s kid nostalgic!

The Matrix episode gets the formula right
As someone who spent their time watching movies instead of sports, this podcast invades my soul (Say Anything). The dynamic of friends recounting where were you when this movie came out - is worth the price of admission. In past episodes where Fred interacts with a celebrity, deeply buried memories of personal mortification have become unearthed. However Jason’s Matrix experience is one of movie fan dreams. It elevates. Love Dan’s directness, Fred’s segue and how Jason can speak with such reference for a topic. Great Banter. In past episodes Cousin Jamie talks about always looking forward, but please keep looking back. This podcast taps into experiences and cultural references that make me feel like I am hanging out with my buddies.

In a world...
In a world where everyone has to hide at home until further notice, three old college friends get together via Zoom to discuss the movies of their past on the anniversary of the films opening weekend.
It is also the compelling story of super fan, Shelia, and her “Arthropod Squad” of characters, famous, real, or imaginary. A twisting tale of love, hate, betrayal, murder, mayhem, and scientific experimentation gone awry.
A must listen for anyone who has ever sat around with old friends reliving their past, busting each other’s chops, and discussing the films they love and hate. Which is all of us, is it not?
If none of that works for you there is always the celebrity impersonations and the closing musical number which is hand farted for your entertainment at the end of each episode.
Opening Weekend Podcast has it all!

Yes!
This is the stroll down popular culture memory lane we all need! These three guys are the perfect tour guides for this journey. Witty, smart, and insightful, this ensemble of three has great timing and they give each other the room to shine as individuals. I just love this show!

Gremlinsphobia
I was 5 when Gremlins came out. Way too young to see that movie. I don’t remember if my parents took me to see it in the theater (while they were parents of the 80s with questionable parenting judgements as most parents of that decade... I like to think they they thought better of taking a toddler to this movie) or if I saw it on tv years later.... but for most of my life I have been terrified of Gremlins. Refuse to watch it - even as an adult.
Oddly, had the complete opposite reaction to Ghostbusters. A fan of Aykroyd, Murray, and Moranis, having stayed up late to watch SNL and SCTV - Ghostbusters was my favorite movie as a child. I wanted to be one for Halloween (my mom got ‘creative’ and instead of just buying me a crappy Ghostbusters Halloween costume with a flimsy plastic mask that would cut your face - LIKE I WANTED - she made me a robot costume out of silver placemats and put a Ghostbusters patch on the chest and that was that).
The comment about capturing the New Yorkness of it is spot on. I grew up in the Midwest but Ghostbusters WAS New York to me. On a trip to the city all I wanted to do was see the Ghostbusters building (ironically not the firehouse, but where Dana lived and where they have the final showdown with Gozer). The Lincoln Center fountain always makes me want to turn around in circles with my arms out. I literally freaked the first time I saw the lions outside the library in real life.
Married now to an 80s movie loving geek, who has tried repeatedly to get me to watch Gremlins.... after listening to episode 3, I may.... not promising.... but may give it another shot.

Can’t get enough!
Every week, these 3 college friends serve up a hot steaming slice of nostalgia. With hilarious personal yarns about where they were in their own lives in the 80s and 90s these actors and cinephiles turn their razor sharp wit and keen sense of moviemaking onto reviewing some of the best (and worst) of the last 40 years of film. With some surprise guests, musical hand farting, and the ongoing saga of the show’s mysterious uber-fan Sheila you’re sure to love these guys for their humor as well as their smarts! Thank you guys!

So funny and thought-provoking and smart and interesting!!! This podcast is like a tasty ice cream sundae: the cream of critique, shot through with the tasty hot fudge of nostalgia, topped with the whipped cream of silliness and fun. The cherry on top? Sheila. I LOVE THIS PODCAST

The Total Package
With this clever podcast you get nostalgic and often irreverent 80s/90s movie analysis, a dulcet baritone, a mailbag of Sheila, hand-fart overtures, and falsetto mega-rock. What more could you possibly ask for in a podcast? Are you not entertained?
Keep it coming, guys.
Double "A" Ron
Nostalgia, and camaraderie, and hand farts, oh my!
What I honestly love most about this is not hearing about the movies I know, but the guy’s takes on all of the ones I don’t know or haven’t seen. I’m left wanting to go back and see some of these less than gems. These guys will make you miss your neighborhood gang. Great listen.

Love this
Discovered this podcast through my mom, who would not get it. But I love it! Feels like I'm sitting around a table sharing beers with friends from childhood. A shared love of film and the ability to speak the same pop culture language makes the patter really pop.

Great rapport between all of the hosts. Very funny and very passionate about movies. Plus it ends with the Star Wars theme played by hand farts.
