In her almost 20 years in the music and entertainment industry, Samantha Ronson has been traveling the world and redefining cool. Cutting her teeth in bars and clubs in New York, she eventually became one of the world’s most recognizable DJs and go-to DJ for a wide range of celebrity and corporate clients. In addition to her talent in the booth, she’s an accomplished singer-songwriter with both solo work and with her band, Ocean Park Standoff. In this interview, Samantha talks about the importance of using her platform to speak on social issues, DJing to non-club crowds, and dives into some nerdy vintage synthesizer and keyboard discussion. The Chattanooga, Tennessee native is a veteran DJ with over 20 years of experience in radio, global festivals, on tour(with Big K.R.I.T.), and party rocking (most notably with Atlanta’s “The Groove ATL”). Behind the boards, Wally Sparks was a staple of hip hop’s “Blog Era” with mixtapes and compilations featuring everyone from Southern legends UGK to Talib Kweli.
