Ep. 052: Bad dating advice
Hi friends! We are here for our second episode of season three, woohoo! On this episode we are going to go over some bad dating advice. Gwen and Aisley have each compiled a list of common bad dating advice given to people. Neither of us have exchanged our lists with each other, so we are going into it fresh without any preconceived thoughts. A lot of this bad dating advice is pretty common for people to hear growing up or throughout their early adulthood. What bad dating advice have you been given? Have you ever given any bad dating advice? Email: [email protected] Instagram: @opentodiscussionpod --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/opentodiscussionpod/message

Ep. 051: Welcome back, let's discuss! (Season 3 Premiere)
Wow, we are so happy and thankful to be back with another episode! We hope everyone was able to enjoy their summer as much as possible! The season premiere is pretty laid back and low-key - we just wanted to have a chat with you. Mainly in this episode we discuss what happened over the summer for each of us and what is coming to be in the foreseeable future. We also go over what will be happening this season, including going into some detail about our decision regarding posting changes. As of this season, we will be posting bi-weekly episodes. As we are both entering our second year of our Masters degree, it is becoming more and more time consuming, and we just don't feel we can commit the same amount of energy to the podcast. We hope you understand this decision and still join us for our future episodes. We are sooo happy to back!! Ep. 050: A reflection on our podcasting journey (season two finale)
We are back from our little week off to let you know that we will be taking another break! Haha, we know it isn't the most exciting news, but we need a little rest and recuperation. In this episode we will be reflecting on what it has been like starting the podcast and journeying through this whole process. This certainly isn't our last episode! We are just taking a break to do some summer things and get more prepared for when school takes a hectic turn come September. Join us for the season two finale as we discuss some of our favourite episodes and the episodes or moments that have made us cringe! A big thank you to everyone involved and everyone who has listened to an episode. We will be back the last week of August.  In the mean time, please reach out to us if you would like to be on the podcast or if you have an idea for a topic that you feel is worth discussing.  Email: [email protected] Instagram: @opentodiscussionpod --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/opentodiscussionpod/message

Ep. 049: Are you really an adult if you don't do ALL of these things? (Part 2)
Oh hey there, friends! We've got part two of our adulting episodes here. For this episode, Adam joined us to go through the second half of our adulting checklist. In case you didn't listen to the previous episode (which, if you haven't, be sure to do so before or after!), this list was compiled using a variety of websites and adulting checklists. We go through and identify whether or not we do the thing, and then determine if it should be a prerequisite to adulthood and adulting. What are your thoughts on adulting in general, and do you have anything you completely agree or disagree with on this list? We would love to hear from you! Ep. 048: Interviews: folks from the LGBTQ+ community (part 2)
The day we have long been awaiting has finally arrived! Here is part two of our interviews with folks from the LGBTQ+ community. If you are an avid listener, you probably have heard us talking about making this episode for quite some time now. We are so excited, and thankful to everyone involved, for making this happen! Similarly to the first part of this series (which, if you haven't already listened, go give it a listen before or after<3), there are three interviews within this one episode. The only real difference from the first part is the individuals, their stories, and you won't hear so much about us and our stories in the beginning, haha! We have Nick, Cory, and Harold joining us for interviews. We really hope you enjoy! Interview start times: Nick - 04:07 Cory - 32:19 Harold - 01:08:07 Follow Nick on Insta: @ieatnick Follow Cory on Insta: @itscorythomas Check out Cory's podcast: Some World We Live In (@someworldweliveinpod) Get in touch with us! Ep. 047: What is going on with men writing women??
We are excited for this episode!! What a wild ride it was reading some passages of "men writing women." This week we take a peak into a weird world of fiction. Where men know no bounds or limitations to their opinions on how women's bodies function!! It is both funny and alarming. We really hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as we enjoyed putting it together. Also, what are you experiences with encountering the way women are written about in books and literature?  Get in touch with us! Ep. 046: Picky eaters unite!!
Oh hi there, friend! We are back with yet another episode. On this episode things will be a little different, and even more relaxed (if you can imagine). As you may, or may not know, Aisley is a picky eater. It's something we have discussed on the pod a few times. Gwen came up with the idea to make some foods that would purposefully place Aisley outside of her comfort zone. During the episode, Aisley will try foods and discuss. We will also discuss picky eating and foods in general. Are you a picky eater, too? How did you find this style of episode? Let us know! Ep 045: A discussion about FOMO (feelings of missing out)
Hello, hello everyone! We are back with another episode and this week we are talking about FOMO. Have you ever experienced FOMO? On this episode we are going to be explaining what FOMO is and what the research says about it. We'll also be taking a short test to assess and reflect on how much we experience feelings of missing out. We will talk about our own experiences with FOMO, and then we're going to get into what "the experts" say about dealing and overcoming FOMO. We'd love to know what your thoughts are on this topic too! As mentioned in the episode, here is the FOMO scale. Use a 0-10 rating to assess and reflect on your own experiences with FOMO: Scale by: Andrew Przybylski (2013) I fear others have more rewarding experiences than me. I fear my friends have more rewarding experiences than me. I get worried when I find out my friends are having fun without me. I get anxious when I don’t know what my friends are up to. It is important that I understand my friends' "in-jokes." Sometimes, I wonder if I spend too much time keeping up with what is going on. It bothers me when I miss an opportunity to meet up with friends. When I have a good time, it is important for me to share the details online (e.g. updating status). When I miss out on a planned get-together, it bothers me. When I go on vacation, I continue to keep tabs on what my friends are doing. Hey, hey everyone! To kick off the month of June we are talking about... well... June! This week we're discussing the holidays and celebrations that take place in June in Canada. Of course, this month is PRIDE! A big huge Happy Pride to everyone! It is also National Indigenous History Month. So, let's remember to honour, celebrate, and educate ourselves on Indigenous history and culture. There are also some surprising holidays... some of them are propaganda??? We hope you enjoy this episode, do you celebrate any of these holidays?  Some Netflix watching for Pride Month: - Disclosure (2020) - The Death & Life of Marsha P. Ep. 043: Are you really an adult if you don't do ALL of these things?
This week's episode was so much fun to create! We compiled a checklist from various resources across the internet of what it means to be an adult. What sorts of life skills are typically thought to be associated with adulthood? What skills do people believe all adults should know? Is adulting really all that it's cut out to be? Haha... the answer is no. So in this episode we will be going through the checklist and discusses whether we know how to do these things and if we think they are prerequisites to adulthood. Do you believe there is a right way to adult? Email us: [email protected] Instagram: opentodiscussionpod --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/opentodiscussionpod/message
