What might God form in us when we walk in seasons we would not have chosen? In this episode, we continue our series on seasons of formation by talking with Lori Shoults, a spiritual director in her late 50s with three adult children and growing grandchildren. Lori shares how her early faith was traditional and knowledge-based, but a significant question from posed to her in her early 40s opened a new inward journey of vulnerability, self-knowledge, and experiencing God’s love. She describes how the Ignatian Exercises and the Paschal mystery shape her current formation, especially through a recent breast cancer diagnosis that required deep consent and trust. We discuss practices that sustain her now, and what God is forming in her through all of life's ups and downs. Connect with Lori and the work she is doing at:theignatianjourney.com, practicecollective.org, and pastorspriestsandguides.com.CLICK HERE for your free resource on life stage questions.CLICK HERE to learn more about a personal download or subscription to oneLife Maps.00:00 Welcome and Series Setup00:50 Meet Lori Shoults05:07 Traditional Faith Foundations06:27 A Question That Opened Tears09:04 A Year of Inner Formation12:41 Why the Shift Happened16:47 Ignatian Exercises Lens19:12 Paschal Mystery Rhythm21:31 Consent in Crisis22:08 Cancer Diagnosis Journey23:42 Breath Prayer in MRI24:52 Sober Joy Through Pain26:37 Releasing Outcomes29:45 Embodied Openness Practices31:51 Rhythms Walking Reading Fasting34:54 Examen and Indifference37:25 Where to Connect Next39:51 Resources and FarewellLIFE MAPPING TOOLSGain clarity at life’s transitions and know yourself and God better through our visual life maps.
