One Village

Alston Carlisle 2021
Welcome to the One Village Podcast. We believe that, just like a village, a diverse group of individuals can come together to create something bigger then the sum of the parts. Happy New Year! Over the next several months you are going to hear a variety of people. Some will be old and some young. Some black and some white. We’ll have men, women, and folks that identify as non-binary. Some will prefer the color red and others blue. Some will have a fair amount of disposable income and some may be living paycheck to paycheck. We’ll have vegans, pescatarians, omnivores, vegetarians, flexitarians, and folks on macrobiotic diets. Some will be single. Some will be married. You’re baby’s mama is welcome and so is your brother form another mother. We’ll be inviting beer drinkers, coffee drinkers, and non-drinkers. If you ride a motorcycle, we’re glad you could join us. We’re planning on diversity and inclusion but NOT hate speech or judgement. The one thing we’ll all have in common is the we all Have (got) Something To Say! This podcasts is intended for adults but we don’t want to make it so kids can’t listen. There may be mature themed content but not unnecessary song or curse words. We don’t want to limit folks freedom of speech. We just prefer you expand your vocabulary and ours by using better more appropriate words. We may agree. We may disagree. We may have to agree to disagree but we’ll all be part of the same village. One Village.

Around the World in 50 Days – What We Learned: My Husband and I
[Global Staci #15] What can travel teach us about ourselves and the world around us?  Can we as people and as a society value experiential learning as much as we value formal education?  In this final episode I talk to my husband and we reveal the life lessons we learned and the intangible gifts we’ve enjoyed traveling around the world with our children. To learn more check out www.globalstaci.com.  Instagram @Global_Staci [Muli bwanji, Zikomo, Yendani bwino (Chicewa) How are you? Thank you, Stay well] “Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.” – Maya Angelou “We are made for goodness. We are made for love. We are made for friendliness. We are made for togetherness. We are made for all of the beautiful things that you and I know. We are made to tell the world that there are no outsiders. All are welcome: black, white, red, yellow, rich, poor, educated, not educated, male, female, gay, straight, all, all, all. We all belong to this family, this human family, God's family.” – Desmund Tutu

Around the World in 50 Days –A Conversation With My Teenage Daughter
[Global Staci #14] Five years later I talk to my teenage daughter about her two years of homeschool and get her perspective on taking a family trip around the world when she was only 10.  If you are considering such a trip with your kids, why not hear firsthand from a kid who’s done it, what she liked, disliked and what she learned.  Would she recommend it, or do it again?  Listen to find out! To learn more check out www.globalstaci.com.  Instagram @Global_Staci [Bula, Vinaka (Fijian) Hello, Thanks] “I have found out that there ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.” – Mark Twain “Voyage, travel, and change of place impart vigor.” – Seneca
