Show notes

We all know that as we age our metabolism changes along with our body. We are not that young, spry twenty-something year-old that can just slip on a pair of sneaks and run 15 miles with no problem. Our metabolism starts to slow down and we start seeing that waistline increase ever so slightly. That’s why I decided to ask my long-time mentor, professor, and good friend and colleague Dr. Christine Rosenbloom to come on the One Small Bite podcast and talk about her new book Food and Fitness After 50. Listen in as she shares some nuggets of nutrition wisdom, three key elements that can help us enhance our health even as we age, and talk about her resources and assessments. Great tips for us older gents!

Dr. Rosenbloom has over 40 years of nutrition experience, and extensive media experience for both national and local TV, radio, newspaper, and magazines. She was a national media spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for over eleven years. Dr. Rosenbloom has published numerous studies on sports nutrition, written and edited over six editions of the Sports Nutrition: A Practice Manual for Professionals. I’m proud to say that Dr. Rosenbloom was my master’s thesis committee chair, and is now professor emerita of nutrition at Georgia State University. She has over 20 years of experience as a sports dietitian for Georgia Institute of Technology Athletic Association and at Georgia State University Athletic Association. She is on the advisory board for the International Olympic Committee Sports Nutrition Diploma program and is listed in the USOC Sports Dietitian Registry. Dr. Rosenbloom is considered to be the top sports dietitian in her profession, and more importantly, she’s just a great person all around.
