Endgame for the eschaton
This aptly named podcast is like when you’ve been knocked out for an eternity and some random stranger wanders by and brings you back to life, and then you end up hanging out together all afternoon and you realize, hey, just because it’s the eschaton and all doesn’t mean everything has to be all doom and gloom all the time. Exactly the succor i needed—highly recommended. Twelve avocados, at least.

Casual conversation: the good parts
Moves along nicely, with little hesitation, dragging or grating qualities. The poetry is a satisfying cap.

These guys get it
Maybe not individually. But together, yeah. These guys. They get it. So far.

If 2020 was a podcast
Just like 2020, the episodes start out strong, with a dash of trepidation. Ear worms abound, and soon you will realize that Matthew and Shafer have begun couch surfing your headspace. As unwanted houseguests go, you could do worse. Lock-down for each episode and maintain your social distance.
What they lack in quality, they overcome with brute quantity. Like the weather, if you don’t like it, just wait a minute. You’re bound to empathize eventually.
If you like yelling at your television, you’ll love One Magical Hour (plus or minus a half an hour).

Two enthusiastic thumbs up
This podcast is everything I didn’t know I needed. It’s a perfect balance between Shafer’s jovial optimism and Matthews never ending cynicism. Equally witty, these two bring balance to each other and provide a good time just giving real world observations and day to day occurrences. I’m here for it personally.

The worst podcast that I can’t stop listening to. Equal parts awkward silence, smothered burritos and anecdotes of past times. Uncle Shafey and his dynamic side kick (I’m sure he hates being called that) Rampage make for a good use of the eardrum and the gray matter between them a few times a week. I hope they read this review on air. I hope even more that someday I’m invited as a guest.

Sometimes it's necessary to go a long distance out of the way in order to come back a short distance correctly. -Edward Albee
Matthew and Shafer’s podcast is like a warm pot of coffee on a cold, lonely morning after a long night out that ended without love. Sure, they ramble on and it takes a bit to settle in. But near the end of the second cup, you’ve forgotten the woes of yesterday and find yourself smiling and looking forward to whatever the new day may have to offer. These Guys have inadvertently cured depression. Reminds me of an Evel Knievel stunt in slow motion, but Evel Knievel is a Care Bear jumping over a foundation of bubbles landing in a swimming pool filled with jello.

I love this podcast
There are times when I worry about the world around me, whether or not anything makes sense of it all. Sometimes I feel like I’m crazy, alone, and shouting into a void. Somehow, Matthew and Shafer ease my concerns. It’s like sitting down at a table with a couple of old friends, and they’ve bought you a beer. You’re just so glad to see them, and they’re already rolling. So you just sit back, relax, chuckle, and enjoy. <3

Bro’s
What revenge could I extract from this review? Being the little sister of Shafer Hall has been a lifetime of entertainment with an infinite amount of unforgettable moments. Take a listen to this podcast and I think you’ll understand. No revenge needed here. Only an opportunity to express the endless love and devotion a little sister has for a big brother like Shafer. He gathers friends everywhere he goes and they are part of the list of characters in the show. Which makes Matthew one of those in a band of brothers that I have had the pleasure of calling my own. It’s nice to have my brothers around any time I need them, and this lovely podcast makes that happen for me.

These guys were born to podcast!
This podcast is full of interesting content and hilarious stories. My husband and I tend to listen to very different podcasts, but we both love this one. There is truly something for everyone and these guys are just so much fun to listen to.
They actually made me want to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua and I will have to live with that on my watch history forever.

Great Hang-out
Tarantino said “there are action movies, horror movies, and then there are hang-out movies, where you just get to be friends with the characters.” This is a great hang out- very fun and smart conversations. My new favorite podcast.

Comfort in Confounding Times
I didn’t consciously think about seeking comfort in much of anything until 2020 and now I definitely know where I’ve lost it (conversations in bars, coffee shops, community interactions in general) and where I’m finding it in a podcast like OMH. For those facing social isolation post-pandemic alongside attempting to process perplexing everyday news, it is comforting to listen in as Shafer & Matthew bring genuine concern mixed with levity to the day.

The 3 C’s
Communication, Comedy, and Comfort! Kudos for the accessible approach, the sideways banter, and all the silly. And Cudos because it starts with a C and stands for Clinically Useful Depression Outcome Scale. Thanks for helping lower my Cudos score – onward and tangential!

Spanning the spectrum
Do you like the feeling of hanging out with your friends without having to actually hang out with them? Of course you do, you listen to podcasts. That’s exactly what these guys bring. Amusing and insightful banter you’ll love to listen in on. From current events to obsessions with Doppler radar, this pod spans the spectrum. Check it out!

Frankly, I can’t get enough of OMH. But as a host, I am heavily biased.

Can't get enough!
Love these guys. They have a rapport that you only get with people who've known each other's rhythms for a long time. And the subject matter is always off the cuff, but consistently interesting. Great, buttery voices too!
