I could listen to these guys talk about comedy and philosophy all day. Chris and Jacob, you owe us a showdown on Voltaire. Your listeners have not forgotten. In all seriousness, this is the critical analysis that On Cinema deserves, and this is the only place to get it. Five Bags of popcorn, no sodas.

Obviously came here for the On Cinema insights, but I really love the episodes that focus on other subjects, ESPECIALLY the series on the biblical book of Job. Sooo much funnier and more interesting than I was expecting it to be. Keep up the good work guys!

Always fun to listen to

The on cinema content is fun to listen to if you can get past the constant maga bashing and boring NPR like speaking tone. One of them had the nerve to call the Trump supporting moms at the Klamath County Library incapable of compassion because they support Trump. They didn't have to go there. Way to alienate a portion of the fan base for no good reason losers.

Ok Marx brothers podcast. Not great on cinema podcast.

My only complaint is that you can’t be a Tim head and a Gregg head, which these gentleman try to be. In fact, you have to choose just one head. A person can’t have two heads. But it’s possible that you could have three heads like the three headed dog in the Harry Potter movie (2002 114 minutes). So pick one more head or lose a head, that’s my advice to these fellows. Thanks to this pod for making my love of the On Cinema world feel legitimate. It’s become part of my routine to listen to this podcast every night. It’s a light in a dark world. Thanks for being generous hosts and sharing your knowledge, interpretations, and pointing out the small details that I’ve missed. I always walk away feeling happy and inspired to read more Kafka.

4/4 stars. My only complaint: they go too easy on Gregg and some times don’t seem to catch New’s vision for this show and that might be a criminal violation of his RIGHTS (I don’t know I’m not a lawyer)

A truly excellent podcast. I’ve been a fan of On Cinema since it’s humble beginnings as a goof of a podcast. If any comedic world is massive and multilayered enough to warrant the deep dive that Chris and Jacob and co take the listener on, this is it! Always engaging, fun and interesting, this podcast feels important, beyond the entertainment aspects. Keep up the good work!

Do you believe that Tim Heidecker's On Cinema is the funniest recorded comedy of all time? These hosts sure do! Better than Pyror, Chaplin, Keaton, Bunuel, Python? Amateurs in comparison to Tim Heidecker! Lewis Carroll and Franz Kafka are classic humorists, but they don't touch the hem of Tim Heidecke'rs pants leg. No siree! Do you like in-depth pretentious podcasts where hosts analyze and break apart humor and gush at each other in complete agreement? Me neither, but this pitch perfect send-up of snobby podcasts is yet another genius branch of Tim's comedy universe. Listen as they go over every episode in such fine detail you'd think they were going for their doctorates. But don't let the tone fool you; the co-host lays subtle hints that this is a complete work (he drops in "Abso-lutely" several times an episode; a clue that this is all fake). I find On Cinema to be a great achievement personally. I don't think it's better than Mel Brooks, like these hosts pretend to do. As a parody, this podcast is brilliant. (If it's not a parody, how can these hosts look themselves in the mirror? How can they face their spouses, lovers, and family? Do they have ears? Do they know what they're spouting into their microphones is so ignorant and desperate that they can't hear it themselves? Do they know they're presenting themsevles as submissive bootlickers to the creator of a well-respected but obscure show?)

These guys are fun and likable.

I love this podcast for its reviews and insights on comedy, especially for On Cinema. I learn a lot about comedy in general and find myself laughing reliving funny moments of the show with the hosts. You guys should review season 14 as it comes out! I think it would get a lot of interest.

This is easily the best podcast I have ever heard that analyzes comedy in the best way. It’s not comedians complaining about being fake censored or talking about their stupid lives—it’s a genuine exploration of the best comedic production out there from a philosophical POV. Everything about it is a excellent, though they’re often wrong and I am always right about my interpretations.

was a good listen about an amazing comedy. learned some stuff about older comedy, too! one issue, though: if I hear the word, “Cudgel” one more time I’ll have a Heidecker-like rage fit.

So far, thankfully, it’s 2 guys that review a show on web about 2 guys that review movies. One guy has real expertise, the other seems like he is more interested in music. In both podcast and show! Anyway, this is the best podcast of all time, about the best show of all time. Thank you both very much, both of you are awesome!

I’m a huge fan of on cinema and I really love hearing people talk about it . It’s super fun to hear the hosts talk about little moments from the show I may have forgotten. My main issue with this podcast is the literature, Beatles, and film references that the hosts bring to the conversation. There are many references that I, unfortunately, have not read seen or heard, and when the hosts bring them up, they do so without explaining why the reference was helpful in understanding its impact on, or relationship to, on cinema. The references often make me feel like I am not learned enough to really understand what the hosts are attempting to teach me. It’s clear that these hosts know a great deal about the history of comedy, but it sometimes feels like they are just speaking to each other (or people with an extensive knowledge of comedy in literature) instead of to an audience of people with a diversity of literary and cultural backgrounds. I’d love to learn more about the hosts’ great breadth of comedy knowledge (especially in relation to on cinema), but i feel like the point of many of these references is lost upon me as they seem to be dropped in rapid succession instead of truly discussed in an organized and intentional way. I hope that they continue to do this podcast, but maybe consider their audience a bit more.

Somehow these guys manage to shoehorn in Billy Crystal, The Beatles, and Animal Crackers into every episode and I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🎤🎤

I appreciate the effort the hosts take to place the show into a historical context of comedy, Amidst the laughter and giggles of their days-long review of On Cinema is a thoughtful discourse about the nature of comedy, how the show’s actors and themes are set up and played against each other, and how the comedic sensibilities of the show stack up against the work of greats like Richard Pryor and Andy Kaufman. Highly recommended!

I don’t know about you but I don’t have a whole lot of people (zero actually) to discuss the complex inner workings of the On Cinema at the Cinema universe. It’s very enlightening to listen to this podcast while re-watching the episodes and Oscar specials. They do a great job not only discussing the show but the history of comedy in general. I give this podcast six bags of popcorn and two little microphones. Bravo.

Whoda thunk I’d enjoy listening to people talk about On Cinema vs just watching it again myself? But man, these guys are true comedy buffs, and they’re WAY more observant than me, constantly pointing out things I somehow missed.
