looking forward into the past: a Post-Roe Indiana
On May 3, 2022, a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion announced the court's intent to overturn Roe v. Wade and 50 years of precedent providing for the legality of abortions. In the weeks following the leak, I spoke to Indiana representative Chris Campbell on how the legislature would respond to a repeal on Roe v. Wade and how this decision could impact Hoosiers - spoiler: disproportionately. I also attended a small student-led protest downtown to speak directly to community members. In just 12 minutes, we explore an urgent, complex issue that will shape the future of the United States. Listen now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and follow @onstrikewithinsight.  music: World's Away

Emphasis on the Unamplified: Emiliana Rickenmann (Activism From All Angles part 1)
Emiliana Rickenmann is a 19 year old climate activist from Colombia, who is currently studying medicine in Switzerland. The crisis in the Amazon sparked her to get involved in the movement by joining Fridays For Future Bogota. She has since co-founded Latinas for Climate as a platform to amplify the voices of those in Latin America who are most affected by the climate crisis and empower young girls to add their voices to the fight. Those most affected by the climate crisis are often left out of the headlines. But this is not because they are silent, they are simply unamplified. Today, we talk climate intersectionality, the Escazu agreement, activism with a busy lifestyle, privilege to safely advocate for change, and more. "There is a Clear Divide." The Hidden System of Environmental Racism with Danielle Sipp
In this episode, I have a conversation with Danielle Sipp, a powerful high school activist in Indiana on environmental racism - a topic she is incredibly knowledgeable about. Environmental racism goes so much deeper than surface level, and many aspects of it are hidden in our political system. Throughout the episode, we discuss Dani's personal experiences with environmental racism in Indiana, what exactly it is, what has allowed it to flourish in our society, and what you can do to support the fight against environmental racism. our position of potential post-inauguration
In this episode, I discuss the cruciality of avoiding complacency after Joe Biden’s inauguration and of continuing the work for change. During this exciting time, we are in a unique position of potential. We have the opportunity to create immense change. While this episode is especially relevant when it is being recorded, January 2021, it is just as important if you are listening to it at a later time. In any situation of immense and sudden positive change, it is easy to become complacent in the system. These are the actions and the ideas to contribute to the creation of momentous and critical change. Music: Joseph McDade / On the Verge

envisioning your vision with Katia Bannister
Katia Bannister is a 17 year old activist and active community member in British Columbia, Canada. In this episode, we discuss interconnected ideas: how broken systems transgress borders, the importance and beauty of creating powerful visions for the future, and how creating your own vision could be a step towards change. The conversation is incredibly interesting in part due to our unique situation of living in different countries - a factor that affects our activism experiences less than you may think.  Reach out to me with comments or to be a guest on the show by emailing me at [email protected]. waking up to performative activism with Claire Kaneshiro
This episode, for the first time ever, I've brought a guest on the show. I talk with Claire Kaneshiro, a climate activist in Indianapolis, about performative activism. Performative activism is surface level, its activism to benefit yourself socially and make you feel less guilty. But in this episode, we dig deeper than surface level. Claire and I discuss how we've seen performative activism through our work as activists, why performative activism is the bare minimum, and how you, as a listener, can dig deeper into the causes you care about. If you've ever felt that your activism, while good intentioned, may have performative aspects or if you want to think deeper about what being an ally to the movement you care about really means, this episode is for you.
