"...he was too busy doing what he thought he needed to do, instead of being what he needed to be. Too often do men do this for their families. Entrusting the spiritual growth and emotional health of their families to extracurriculars. When a man departs his family by placing his attention elsewhere, he creates a vacuum which will be filled by something. When a man refuses to be as he ought to be, a godly leader, he abandons his post and those under his charge are free to be attacked by external forces." This one was a heavy one for me. We always have to be willing to confront our own failures and how we can do better. This week we explore a historical example of a man who abandoned his post, the necessity of paying attention to the needs of your wife, and the necessity for beauty.

What weight rests on the shoulders of the king? What is he meant to do for his people and what rights does he have over his people? We'll explore the biblical story of David and Bathsheba to remember what overstepping the bounds as a king looks like

This week we'll explore those virtues which make a good leader. How Wisdom, humility, resilience, and strength all contribute to our role and responsibility in life.  "Without any one of these, a man cannot truly step into leadership as resilience brings steadiness in trials; humility brings kindness and the ability to do those things which are "beneath oneself"; wisdom affords discernment of what is right and what is wrong; strength gives the ability to stand one's ground and support those who are under their stead."

This week's chapter digs into the ideas of order and decay in relationships. We'll be looking at our need to evaluate our lives in order to determine what is killing those we love. "Chance and happenstance are not merely enough to create a true and safe home. There must be intention and there must be drive. Thus displays the need for proactivity and right reactivity. Too often do we live in these places where we expect all things to fall into place naturally as if trusting mere chance and nature; But we are humans, we are as rough and ragged as the cracked stone, and we do not fit perfectly together naturally. There must be intention. Intention, love, and will are the mortar that holds the ragged stones together."

In this week's chapter, we explore the question of how one begins to shift perspective on how to grow from one state to another. The secondary topic is in evaluating certain coping mechanisms that may hinder our growth and relationships. 

These chapters explore the nature of where our authority comes from and how the human nature moves toward those inclinations that are honouring to God.
