This is an interesting show for any history buff.

Love It!
Love the mysteries on your podcast from long ago to current. You even did a 10 Minute Mystery about one of my ancestors, Warlock’s Grave outside of New Phila. No one in the family knows why that rumor ever got started unless it was because someone thought his grave just looked spooky. Keep up the great work!

Great podcast
I was looking for a fun and interesting show for local folklore and legends and this one is by far best that I have found for Ohio. I also enjoy that local bands are featured each episode, so fun to learn about! Well done!

Good and interesting journalism
I absolutely love how this podcast presentation unfolds. Very in depth storytelling and journalism across a wide variety of topics are presented in an entertaining and concise manner. I’m from Ohio and biased but it’s hard for me to see how anyone couldn’t enjoy this podcast immensely.

Awesome
Fantastic podcast, if you love Ohio and love mysteries, this is for you. Found it by doing a search a few years back, so happy I did 😊👍

Covers interesting & sometimes little-known mysteries
I like that the subject matter is a bit off the beaten path, and not the same content that other similar podcasts have covered multiple times. Research is very good, as befitting a former reporter. Sometimes one needs a break from the now- popular “comedy-based” true crime podcasts, and this one satisfies.

True Crime Ohio!
Best new podcast!!! Paula and Stephen are amazing! Show very well edited.

good stories
I think the use of the word Indian is appropriate, c'mon. The style of the podcast is from the view of the world in the story. It would be pretty weird to watch an old movie or Shakespeare where they speak modern terms, oh wait those should be cancelled. It is not meant as an insult, they thought they landed in India so called them Indians.

Pronunciation
I love the concept and content of this show. The variety and breadth of the mysteries covered across Ohio is truly fascinating. From the standard murder mysteries, to hauntings, to UFOs and more, each episode is unique. And the depth of research that Paula does is great - with the exception of one thing. How to pronounce the names of towns. Another 30 seconds spent on Google to learn how to pronounce the name of the town or region would solve each of these pronounciation "mysteries." The proper pronounciation of a person's home town is important. I am not even a native Ohioan, but I always try my best to find the correct way to pronounce the name of a town I speak of or plan to visit. When I hear Paula say "Galli-opolis" instead of "Gallipolice" (spelled Gallipolis), I can't concentrate on the rest of the episode. There are many more examples, and it seems there has been at least one such glaring example every 2 or 3 episodes. I realize that gets nitpicky, but it is a sign of respect to the residents to at least attempt to find the proper way to pronounce the name of a place you are describing where something horrific has happened. And all it takes is an additional minute or two of research. Google will even pronounce it for you. Other than that, an overall enjoyable listen.

Brady’s Leap
Thank you for using words that weren’t invented in the last 2 years by “woke” idiots ... and for bringing awareness to a massacre and the celebration of torture BY Indians.

Capt Brady Spoke Indian?
Really? Is that in the same language family as North American or Asian? We have a troubled enough relationship with our indigenous brothers and sisters without reducing them to “Indians” who apparently taught Captain Brady “Indian.” This is such a good podcast that I was more than a little startled to hear that.

Wow , you shows are so well done and narrated, I really look forward to new episodes, have been listening to all you past episodes, they make you feel like your right in the midst of each episode

Ohio Treasure
There is so much Ohio history to explore both fascinating and tragic. This podcast does a wonderful job of taking us around the state to further explore these mysteries. Paula paints a vivid picture and has a wonderful heart that shines through. Thank you for providing both entertainment and a voice to those awaiting justice.

Grandma Gatewood
Loved the episode. She’s from my neck of the woods and my family knew her. There’s a plaque dedicated to her at the Cheshire park. My only criticism is that Gallipolis is pronounced WAY incorrectly.

Possible show
How about convicted killer Kenneth Biros that was put to death? Occurred in Trumbull Co.

There really is no mystery....
Ohio Mysteries is one of the best!! Paula and Steve do an amazing job of bringing to light some of the state’s most gruesome and terrifying stories....but do it in such a thoughtful and caring way that you can’t help but feel like every case needs to be solved now! God bless all the research and preparation that has to go into each and every episode they put out....I can’t imagine the emotional roller coaster they must feel when they are knee deep in these cases....thankfully they have the ability to continue keeping these stories alive so that in many cases....families have a chance to find some answers and closure. Amazing job guys!

Great Show
Great Show, the Akron Beacon Journal must be very lucky to have found such a great reporter like Paula.

Tough to listen to
It’s basically just reading a script or article. I couldn’t finish the episode.

Decent podcast. I fast-forward sometimes though
It’s a good podcast. The guy needs to be a true cohost and not let Paula lead the show. Arm chair sluths I typically tune out for.

Love it!
Really love this podcast. Look forward to each new episode. I no longer live in Ohio, but grew up in Akron and love hearing the familiar references. Also really enjoy the music before/after each episode. Thank you to the hosts for doing what you do!

You’re doing great
Please don’t take offense at the rude review. You guys do a great job . I listen to every podcast you put out and will continue to listen. I like the little differences you guys have , and the special highlights on Ohio cases that I’ve never heard of before. Keep up the good work and don’t let one negative review get you down. You can’t please everyone.

Glad to have an Ohio Podcast
But, unfortunately the hosts are too irritating (esp Paula...her voice...ugh!) and this arm chair sleuth segment is awful.

Dreadful
The narration is terrible. Sounds like it’s being read of a script.

Fascinating and scary
I was startled to hear that members of the Ohio Players were disappearing. It’s heartening to know that someone’s getting to the bottom of this.

Arrest in the Rachael Johnson case!! March 2020!!!
After all of these years! — you need to do an update on your story — the neighbor, (now) 57 year old Daniel Rees (not the guy named Wilson you discussed in your episode) — who lived across the street has been arrested for her murder based on DNA found at the scene and traced through genealogy. The daughter said that this neighbor was *never* suspected, and that he remained a family friend for years who even asked the daughter how she was doing over the years. Unfortunately it shows you why focusing on one person you “like” as a suspect (Wilson) can blind you to the REAL killer (apparently Rees was identified by using the same DNA genealogy that identified the infamous Golden State Killer).

Great 10 minute mystery this week!
I’ll most definitely will be looking for any info on the McAdams family. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before. I live in Cleveland once again and now I have the time to research these things. Thanks for another rabbit hole to hop down.

Family Jewels Podcast
Well researched and expertly presented. Excellent podcast.

Enjoyable content
Being from NE Ohio, I find the mysteries compelling and interesting. My only reason for not giving a full five stars is that the music can be pretty obnoxious. Some of these obscure Ohio artists richly deserve their obscurity.

Great investigations
I love listening to the true and investigative nature of the stories. Oh and Paula sounds like Frances McDormand! Keep it up!

Love the show
Anticipate the weekly installments of this show. The format with musical guests and arm chair detectives is excellent! Even the short episodes are filled with interesting facts and intrigue. Paula and Steve are excellent hosts!

So interesting!!
Love the show!

Made a mistake
of downloading bunch of episodes without listening to any of them first.. The host and especially the cohost are exceedingly goofy and annoying!!!! With better host and better way of presenting this shows format. ( the music and armchair detective segment drag it down even more intoa complete amateur endeavor) Could be rated a four star " It's good" And lastly why does the guy cohost ( most goofy and king of stupid remarks) sound like he's detached and talking through a tin can?????

Best storytelling out there!
Love this podcast so much. The storytelling is unique and the conversation natural. Doesn’t feel scripted. It’s well researched. Love the local music featured each week too. As I add to my podcast list I’m adding to my music selections as well! Please keep this going!!

One of the best podcast!!
I love this podcast and it’s not the same old true crime podcast. Ohio mysteries was my first and only patron subscription. I like the commitment to good research and story telling. If you are from Ohio it feels comforting to hear the names of old places from your childhood. Thank you for doing this podcast!!

Gem of a Podcast
If you like true crime stories or mysteries and you live in Ohio (or even if you don’t), there’s no reason not to be listening to this podcast. Intriguing stories told by great hosts, one of whom has 30 years experience as a journalist with the Akron Beacon Journal. Well-researched and fascinating stories that I look forward to every week.
