AFROFUTURISM Afrofuturism represents a set of complex ideas that does not conform to Eurocentric beliefs. It redefines black cultures, the color of blackness, and reimagining the future of black people through a NEW cultural lens through the influence of recreating identities and practicing liberation. Black people are viewed as not having a culture or past because they were descendants of the transatlantic slave trade. We are imagining ourselves in places we have never seen ourselves or we have never imagined ourselves to be. We are learning how to read and recognize our own wants and how to reconstruct them. We reject the world that others have projected onto us that evolves around anti-blackness and we are reconstructing our own.
