Hi Mamas!!! We miss you so much!!! This ep is a lil check in/check up and a welcome to our mini season 6 🥳🥳🥳🥳 How was your summer? It’s ok -SAME. If even a mask and 6ft of personal space can’t keep your toddler from somehow being the loudest, closest person in your life, WE UNDERSTAND. We’re not ok. Somehow there was so summer and there is no school. Just a groundhogs day montage of masks, misery, coffee, wine and zoom. SIGH And 50 weeks later, Kate is *still* pregnant. And we’re back with some Nails n Fails. All of which are fails. Damn you 2020.

Well mamas, we made it to the season finale of Modern Civilization /Life as We Know It. I mean, the season finale of Nursing and Cursing Season 5. And everything is fine. Totally fine. To celebrate, we are bringing you something brand new : OUR KIDS!! In this episode, we ask the kiddos :is mom cool? What’s this podcast all about ? Does she ever get grumpy ? Some of them gave us the cold hard truth, and others clammed up, scared of retribution. And Sarah coins a phrase that will make her a millionaire, or at least get her fine ass trending on Twitter. Yes -we are talking about race and racism. As 5 white moms, we know that we have a true responsibility to help our kids confront and contextualize today’s realities in the hopes that tomorrow can be better and more equal for all. This week, we were honored and excited to welcome author (and FATHER 👋🏻OF👋🏻SIX👋🏻) Jelani Memory to our show. Jelani wrote the book that we all need right now: A Kids Book About Racism. It’s a truthful, simple, warm, and engaging book aimed at younger kids that has been helping us spark honest conversations with our children. We got Jelani’s perspective on today’s unfolding events and why it’s so critical to be having these conversations with our kids over and over again as we help them understand and process the world around them. Then we let this bad ass dad go get his 6 kids to bed 😉.
