This show has so much heart. Look forward to it every week, best thing on television, hands down. The entire cast is fabulous, Edie Falco is brilliant.

This is a poignant story of the eternal human conflicting question - do I serve myself and others or over others? There are quite a few N.J.'s out there. It's fiction for some of us, thank God. For some, this if real life. Watch, enjoy and ask yourself, "what would I do if I was Jackie?"

Edie Falco and the creative team behind Nurse Jackie have brought something smart and refreshing to television that hasn't been seen before: what it really means to be a nurse in modern America. Nurse Jackie is smart, tough, no non-sense, yet at times vulnerable and deeply troubled but above all, always looking out for her patients. I find her very flawed character highly interesting to watch as she navigates some very tricky situations. As a nurse myself, I find an honesty in the seemingly daring storywriting. It only seems daring to those who are outside the medical profession because they have no idea what we have to deal with on a daily basis, especially if you're an ER nurse in large city! As for the naysayers who think it will bring down our profession, I say our profession is already suffering from an image of old haggard mean hens pecking away at what is really a dynamic career choice. I hate when people say how noble nurses are, or how we're angels. That's ridiculous. We're humans. We do the best we can for our patients and it's not always the right thing, but it's the best thing. And Nurse Jackie has the balls to say it.

Nurse Jackie is great. It is not like the regular main character that is always right and knows everythin. I love her humor, temperament, attitude and hate for bad people.

The show is witty, funny, and always draws you in. It's not like your regular medical show, it's better. I would so reccommend it to anyone.

The spirt of Jackie is in all of us,Good vs evil, Right vs wrong, so wanting to do the next right thing, allowing other to be human rewarding them and punishing them in some small way based on our own life experience. The choices we make in a second and how we effect our selfves and each other all rolled up into Nurse Jackie. I love her a being, being human I am not so hard on my self after meeting Jackie. come on people it is a show. we know it's not real life. i am a nurse and i love this show. it is hilarious BUT it is just a show! these nurses that keep talking bad about the show take themselves way too seriously. we do not have time to screw pharmacists and it isn't that easy to steal drugs. it's just humor. if you can't laugh at yourself and your profession once in a while you will miss out on all the fun.

Not like anything else on television. Regardless of how you feel about Jackie - the show is like a train wreck - you can't take your eyes off of it! I am really looking forward to the next episode and cannot wait to see how this thing goes!!

I love this show and am happy that Showtime does these original series. I always love a flawed hero. I hope iTunes will offer the rest of the season for purchase.

It is a dark comedy but a brilliant show. I have seen a couple unjustified criticisms but watch an episode and you will be hooked.

As for the people who thought this was a comedy, their a little clueless. Edie Falco plays an amazing role here and really does it well. Its not a movie about medicine per say, but about one persons struggle in a broken world. The setting happens to be a hospital, and I think its done well. Enjoy the show for what it is, drama, pain, life.

I have friends who are doctors, nurses, and PA's. I myself studied Biochemistry. This show is about real people! Real, imperfect people, and I love it!!! There is no sugar coating on this show. It's wonderful, sure there are some dark parts, but people are dark, no question...they're people!!! I love it and can't wait to see more. Get over the thought that doctors and nurses are super-human. They are people who practice a profession, and hopefully a passion. But no one is perfect. No one! This show is absolutely brilliant!!

I think Nurse Jackie is a great show...its really interesting and funny. Edie Falco clearly knows what she is doing and hopefully this show will become a huge hit! I really look forward to the rest of the season and more to come...

...following up to her Carmela (sp) character would never have been easy. This role, however, and this show, to put it mildly, is MAJOR LEAGE REMARKABLE and I, for one (amongs many) will NEVER miss an episode! Keep up the incredible work, Edie and Showtime! Keep those remarkable scripts rolling!

I hated Edie's character in The Soprano's, but it looks like this show has a great future. I really enjoyed this first episode. Lets see how the rest of the season is.

I am sure there are many nurses that would not like the image that this presents but having worked in ER for 10 years I have seen many of the types of incidents shown in the premier. Maybe not all in the same person and some not as extreme as others but many pretty close. I can't wait to see what happens next. Nurses are people too and the stress and pain in the ER makes for a lot of different characters.

I have friends that are nurses and while this is fictionalized, Jackie could be any nurse. Her patients are more important than her co-workers or even her family. She abuses painkillers so she can keep working, not to get high. Management belittles her for working overtime but begs for more. Doctors sexually abuse her, belittle her, and don't listen to her. This is a complilation of all the bad stuff rolled together and it's fabulous.

I have been a Nurse in the ER for 25 years. I was so happy to hear about a show that would feature a strong nurse and show the humor and good side of this profession. Instead you have your lead RN strung out on narcotics, having an affair with a pharmacist to get the drugs, cheating and manipulating the hell out of everyone. The first patient you see her with needs a head CT and because the resident did not order the test the patient died. Come on..... Any nurse worth a flip would have gotten the test. Deal with the doc later. But no she will not fight the doc but she will forge the patients signiture on the ID card for doner info? If you had to have someone using drugs then make it another staff RN. Not your lead nurse. That is just sad. Great cast. Sad story line. Nurses like nuree Jacnie are out there and they are strong and funny and they are doing 100% because they love being a nurse. Not for the Narcs.

Edie does an exceptional job and the show was awesome! Great job showtime!

i can barely stand to wait for the next episode. edie is such an amazing actress. she gets to do some of her best work on this show. the sopranos she never got a chance... nurse jackie is a total hit with me.

This show is for ENTERTAINMENT not a recruitment documentary like the previous review pointed out, I am also a nurse, and I did not get offended at all maybe some of you guys and girls need to relax and lighten up .

Just loved it!!! Remember everyone, this is a fictional scenario about a inner city Catholic Hospital. If you watched all the beginning clips in the series, they are not trying to portray all Nurses, just one Nurse, Jackie! It is comical, and there are aspects of the series I sure can relate to. I have been a Med-Surg Nurse for 12 yrs. & I have worked in hospitals just like the one she is in. Nurses are told by administrators "we can't have 80 hr.work weeks" and then in the same breath she asks her to work a double the next day. I really laughed!! Also, if you don't think it is reality with Nurses who are addicts, think again. The State Board Of Nursing would'nt have their Cando Program Nationwide if all Nurses were "Saints". It once again is a funny look at life as a Nurse in a hospital, & is a T.V. series. If you want a documentary on Nursing, watch Discovery(also Great!) Remember, ER ran for 8 seasons with all types of story-lines(some unbelieveable), & House has also become a #1 hit show. Should I remind all of you that House is a drug addict as well and people love the show. I think this is equally quirky,& will have a long run. Edie Falco is also a brilliant actress. Keep watching :~)

Wow, one of the best shows I have even seen. Drama and dark comedy all rolled into one. Edie Falco is fantastic and the supporting characters and script writing are the best. If all t.v. shows were this original and this well written television wouldn't be third banana behind other sources of entertainment. It gives me hope that Hollywood writers and actually write a captivating show!

this show i think is not realistic at all how is that a nurse is gonna tell a dostor how to do treir job im not saying that there arent doctor that are useless but come on!!! her acting skill marvelous is well written and the naration of it great remains me of queer as folk on the bigining when Michael is narating whats going on but anyways i love it and hope you 2

When I first heard of Nurse Jackie, I only intended to watch it because of Peter Facinelli, as I am a huge Twilight fan. But as I watched the first episode, I really enjoyed the show. Edie plays a great character. It was funny and interesting. Although some parts were a little explicit, I would definitely recommend this show to others and I can't wait for further episodes.

I'm a RN at an inner-city trauma center, like the show's character, and I think the show's pretty accurate. I've even had fellow nurses succumb to drug addiction and be led off premises in handcuffs. Everything she says or does corresponds to something that I've done, or wanted to do. It was as if I could look at every scene and say, "Been there, done that. Or wanted to." I don't care that it doesn't glorify the profession. Frankly nursing's a dirty job a lot of times and people who go into just for the honor and glory will be left disappointed and burn out faster than others... especially in emergency rooms, and perhaps in inner city ones more often, where social problems and medical problems tend to come to a head with each other and not always with good results.

I loved this episode and feel like there is so much potencial to explore human nature in this series. It is reminiscent of The Wire. Lots of gray area...not everyone is pure good or pure evil. There's a little of each in everyone...we all have our own struggles.

The premiere was excellent, and I'd pay to watch the successive episodes. Hey, iTunes and Showtime, get it together and make them available for download.

Looking foward to the day Showtime will allow us to purchase thru ITunes as episodes are released on a "Pay Per View" basis...Once again Edie has captured our attention......

Complex, flawed, interesting, strong character! Can't wait to see how she develops.

There's only a couple shows I watch on television that I think are worth my time. Nurse Jackie, being the newest, is one of those. People who post reviews on the show and say it doesn't do RN's any justice or write something like "How does this help the profession?" don't realize that.... maybe the show wasn't written for people who think about becoming a registered nurse. Like every show on television, its for entertainment. Nowhere does Showtime advertise that this is a reality show. Also, it's a show about ONE nurse and HER life. The show is called Nurse Jackie not Nurses. I know I'm going on a rant on one subject and not pointing out that it's a brilliant show with a brilliant lead. It's everything a show can be rolled into one. Nurse Jackie, she may not be anyones role model but she sure does the things we secretly do.... or atleast sometimes wish we could.

This is an excellent show. It's unlike anything else out there and you should check it out if you can. For those who are giving it bad reviews for being unrealistic I say "who ever said it was a documentary?"! It never claimed to be a reality show. What's wrong with you? This is a drama, people. You know... entertainment. Lighten up and enjoy.

It's not bad and super funny, for all the people who had something rude to say before it even aired you should watch an episode or 2.

While reading the previous reviews, I really had no idea that this show would make me laugh so hard. I suppose to enjoy this show, you need to understand the witty lines and bittersweet plots. I only watched it because it was free but I do think I would have paid to seen it as well. Surprisingly funny and I recommend watching it!

to be honest I only watched the episode because I found out that Peter Facinelli was in the series. With that aside, I don't think the show is all that great

That was a pretty good comedy show. I loved Nurse Jackies' fierce attitude! I will watch the show on TV whenever i see it on.

Cleverly written. This is a story about Jackie who is a nurse. It is not a story about a Nurse named jackie. If you want 'ER', back of the bus to cable for you.

I love dark comedies with twisted characters and plots and this one has the look of a great show. As a dedicated HBO show watcher, I was pleasantly surprised by this showtime program (though I have heard that hbo owns showtime now, but I could be wrong). And to those who worry about the nursing profession reputation, I have two things to say (and my mother is an ER nurse)....1 - its a show, 2 - Edie Falco's character seems to have the patient's needs as her first priority and so what if she cusses and sleeps around, like I said, its a tv show! I love it and I'm glad Edie Falco isn't going to trapped as Carmela Soprano forever :)

This is awsome! And it has Peter Facinelli in it hes hot! I hope they have this as a paid show because I would pay for each one :)
