In today’s episode, we are chatting with Kirk Pengilly.
Kirk is one of the founding members of INXS, one of Australia’s most notorious and successful rock bands. They’ve sold over 80 million albums worldwide, collected countless awards and trophies for their work from all over the globe, including 3 Grammy nominations, and have been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
In this chat we talk about Kirk’s early years and family life, as well as what led him to meeting and forming the band. The story of INXS is one of resilience and incredibly strong friendship. From late night recordings after their work at car yards all day, to playing in front of hundreds of thousands of people, INXS certainly was not an overnight success.
We speak about the gruelling years of touring and churning out music, as well as the tenacious attitude of the band and how often they needed to evolve after events like Michael’s death.
Kirk has lived a full life, and now has found peace in the more simple aspects of life.

This is a podcast where we sit down with some very successful people from the world of business, entertainment and sport about their life’s journey and what got them to the position that they’re in today.
In today’s episode, we are chatting with two of the Trbojevic brothers, Tom and Jake. If you’re a rugby league fan, these boys probably don’t need an introduction, but if you’re not, you’re about to meet two of the nicest and most humble athletes in the game.
Tom and Jake are NRL superstars for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, NSW Blues and Australia. Despite Tom being the 2021 Dally M Medal Winner, neither of these boys have forgotten their roots and they’re not going to any time soon.
In this chat we speak about their intense and strong family bonds and what makes them who they are. We talk about ‘that’ incident at the corso, and whether they’ll remain one club players. We speak about their younger brother Ben joining the Sea Eagles and how the other brother Luke manages being the ‘one left out.’
Both of the boys have an incredibly unique perspective on what it means to be a superstar of the game and represent people on the field. With Tom being 25, and Jake 27, these brothers have the world at their feet; but for now, they’ll be staying in the northern beaches.

This is a podcast where we sit down with some very successful people from the world of business, entertainment and sport about their life’s journey and what got them to the position that they’re in today.
In today’s episode we are chatting with Peter Costello
Peter was the longest standing treasurer that Australia has ever seen. He is also deemed the most successful.
With a law background, Peter realised that he didn’t want to just act on what the law was, but rather that he wanted to be a part of creating it.
There are things from his political career that he is proud of, and there are things that with the benefit of hindsight he might have changed.
There have been rumours of a falling out occurring between him and john howard for over a decade, and that Peter was promised the prime ministership before the falling out occurred. All of this is answered in this interview as well as some interesting things about his family life, life in Canberra and how he feels about how the country is being ran today.

This is a podcast where we sit down with some very successful people from the world of business, entertainment and sport about their life’s journey and what got them to the position that they’re in today.
In today’s episode, we are chatting with Betty Klimenko.
Betty has climbed some mountains in her life. She’s the outlier. The one who doesn’t mind being different, and embraced her own quirkiness and individuality.
Betty calls herself a bogan. She says it with reverence. Betty was born a child of addiction, and later adopted by the couple who later went on to start Westfield.
She is now among the wealthiest women in Australia, and the only one to have her own professional car racing team, Erebus Motorsport. She experienced what life was like ‘on the other side of the track’ with her husband Daniel, after her father essentially kicked her out of the family for marrying someone 11 years younger than her that wasn’t Jewish. Betty and Daniel have now been married for 32 years.
She has had a very interesting life. Betty is generous. She is humble and she is like no one you’ll ever meet.

In today’s episode, we are chatting with Brad Freddy Fittler
Freddy is arguably one of the best players in the game of Rugby League. He was a boy from Penrith that could never sit still. He belonged on the footy field and it always came easily to him.
Freddy captained his state and his country, played 16 seasons and almost 450 games at the highest level.
For this podcast, we went to Freddy’s home and you’ll hear us talking about that in our chat. After a workout and some meditation together, we sat outside in the sunshine where I got to know Freddy on a deeper level. This was the type of interview where you kind of forget that the microphones are there and everything is recording. You’ll hear birds chirping, Freddy’s llamas in the background and the occasional crunch of toast. Put it this way, it wasn’t the most professional of settings but it brought out some sides of Freddy that I hadn’t seen before.
Freddy is a larrikin. He has never lost sight of where he comes from.

In today’s episode, we are chatting with Karl Stefanovic. Karl is one of the most well known journalists and television presenters in the country; and while it’s likely that you have heard his voice many times, today’s interview will most likely show you a side of Karl that you haven’t seen before. Karl was never going to be a person that didn’t do stuff. He’s always been driven and willing to jump in the deep end. He’s certainly not lost his larrikin, cricket loving, Queenslander attitude, but he has learnt to delve into the deeper parts of emotional connection.
In our chat we speak about Karl’s career and whether there were other paths that he considered going down, his experiences both positive and negative living in the public eye, the upheaval and the fall out from the Today show and how much pressure that put him under, as well as his subsequent return.
Karl has spent his life following his mum’s advice of “work hard, play hard” and has certainly found the balance of when it’s time to work, and when it’s time to play. Karl is uniquely driven and compassionate. We sat down together at the very end of last year and I felt lucky to be the person that Karl wanted to share his own stories with.

In today’s episode, we are chatting with Mark Bouris.
Mark Bouris is one of Australia’s most recognisable business men. He is an entrepreneur, author, media personality and adjunct professor. Mark was the founder and chairman of Wizard Home Loans, which he sold for around half a billion dollars back in 2004. He is now the chair of Yellow Brick Road. You might recognise Mark as the host of The Celebrity Apprentice Australia or from his podcast & TV show “The Mentor.”
Mark is gritty. He’s tenacious. He has a bluntness and a ‘just get in and do it’ attitude that has led to him achieving incredible success; and of course, that success didn’t come overnight.
In this chat you’ll learn that Mark wasn’t fed with a golden spoon; he grew up around the corner from the housing commission in Punchbowl. He really paved his own way.

In today’s episode, we are chatting with Layne Beachley.
Layne's dedication to success made her the only surfer, male or female, to claim six consecutive world titles - and the only woman to have 7 in total. She is an officer of the order of Australia, Chair of Surfing Australia, and founder of the Awake Academy.
In this chat Layne speaks openly about some experiences she faced as a child, like being conceived through assault and later adopted, that shaped her into the fierce competitor that we came to know. Layne is a powerhouse of what it means to be determined and driven. She is vivacious and cheeky. Layne and Gus share a passion for mental fitness and a big takeaway from this chat are the lessons that Layne has learnt about where we focus our own time and energy. Of course, this episode wouldn’t be complete without talking about Layne’s marriage with INXS member Kirk Pengilly. Without mentioning any spoilers, we’ll tell you that it wasn’t exactly love at first sight.

In today’s episode, we are chatting with Gavin Rubinstein.
Gavin is arguably the best real estate agent in the country. He’s won more awards in real estate than we could list and is now the founder of The Rubinstein Group. You might also know him from the reality television show Luxe Listings Sydney.
At just 33 years old, Gavin has achieved a hell of a lot. But as for all of our guests, it wasn’t overnight.
In this interview we talk a lot about the passion and drive that fuels Gavin; the athlete-like dedication and love of the competition. We speak about his family and how working with his brother has created a perfect yin-yang dynamic that has enabled them to become more and more successful.
Gavin lives and breathes work hard- play hard, and he speaks about how loving the process more so than the end result is his objective.

Hugh Jackman is a man who probably doesn't need an introduction.
He’s an Australian actor, singer, multi-instrumentalist, dancer and producer, who you might have seen in films like The Wolverine, Swordfish, The greatest showman, Les Miserable, Australia, and X men.
He’s won a Golden Globe award, an Emmy, a Tony and even a Grammy award; but he’s still somehow maintained the persona of being one of the most humble and loved Australians in the world.
But Hugh’s success didn’t come overnight.
It's not every day that he is interviewed by his best friend of 48 years.
Hugh (or "Jacko" as Gus says) and Gus met when they were in kindergarten and they have been inseparable (metaphorically) ever since.
In this interview, they talked about everything from their childhoods, Hugh's mum leaving, his dad’s religious influence and how he got into the acting world, to his life in the limelight and who gets movie roles ahead of him.
The biggest take away that we got from this chat with Hugh was to trust your instincts; something he has always done despite what the people around him advised.
