Feels like I'm having coffee with all the interesting people
Levi's humor, curiosity and descretion help him navigate these important conversations in ways that embrace our differences as well as our shared humanity--flaws, bias and all. I can really relate to Levi, so it makes me feel like I'm actually there in these conversations with Levi and his guests. Just need to bring my own coffee.

Thank you
This most recent interview with Resmaa Menakem is the first Not About You episode that I've listened to and it makes me want to go back and listen to all the rest. I appreciate Levi's thoughtful, courageous questions and the humor that he brings which seems to create a sense of movement and ease amidst heavy conversations.
I really loved the question asked about what brought Resmaa into this work and then Resmaa's response that mama told him that this is how he has always been ... that didn't choose this work, ancestors chose him. As someone who has recently learned the meaning behind my name and how that reflects the work that I'm here to do, I felt draw to the story Resmaa told of his name.
The book My Grandmother's Hands has been a huge gift as I work to heal generational trauma and white body supremacy in my family line. I recently used an ancestor visioning exercise from the book with some peers and have had profound experiences that have significantly impacted my life and kin for the better. Thank you, Resmaa, for this resource!

Thank You Levi!
Too often artists separate themselves from the world and the diverse cultures that exist in our glorious globe. Levi’s humanity is a gift to the Twin Cities community and through this podcast the world at large. Thank you Levi!

Brilliant & Important Conversations
Levi Weinhagen digs deep and has meaningful conversations with people doing valuable work in our culture and communities. You may not know the names of the people Levi brings on but I've found myself becoming fans of his guests' work immediately after listening to each episode. Levi's combines a mix of vulnerability, comedy, and insightfulness to every episode I have had the joy of listening to.

Genuine, Funny & Necessary
The very real conversations had during these episodes are so enlightening to me as a straight, white CIS-gendered male. I appreciate Levi's ability to listen and play off his guests' lived experiences without stepping on toes or leading the conversation too much. I'm very excited to see who future guests will be. Really great stuff.

Brave and inspiring
Levi and "Not About You" are reminders for me to move forward with difficult conversations even though I'm afraid to do so. This podcast is well worth your time.

This podcast makes me proud.
Binged on this while doing my taxes, and it's saving me! As a POC, it's validating to hear people from many different walks of life give voice to the things I think and feel as I move thru my day. It reminds me that we are more similar than we are different, AND that we have a lot to learn from each other.

Best Conversations
Levi is an outstanding conversationalist. His relaxed, funny, insightful approach to talking with his fascinating guests lends itself to chats (as opposed to interviews) with very interesting people. I'm happy to see the message fo this podcast. I'm also a fan of of Levi's Pratfalls podcast.

A Mindful Heart
Levi is gracious, funny and engaging. His vulnerability is his greatest assest. He uses it to connect with his guests and listeners in a truly unique way. As long as he keeps talking, I'll keep listening.

Definitely worth your time!
Really thoughtful (and sometimes funny) conversations exploring differences. Award-winning podcaster and comedy guy, Levi Weinhagen, brings his warmth and curiosity to conversations with a range of people who are not like him. In doing so, he stands in for a lot of us who need to listen more and refrain from getting defensive in potentially tense conversations. These podcasts are an entertaining and educational reminder that "it's not about you".

Another step towards "getting woke"
Here are ten chances for you to listen to people who exist outside the default of whiteness. More than 10; more than one person tells their story per episode. As a middle-aged white lady whose peers voted for racism and fascism, hearing the stories of people not "like me" (but honestly *so much* like me outside of physical appearance) is one step of many in garnering awareness and empathy for my fellow citizens. The episodes speak frankly about our behavior towards one another and how racism is pervasive and an everyday offense in many others' lives. However! This is not a dry podcast that points fingers!! Mr. Weinhagen knows we're in this together, and as he's choosing to better himself and listen more, so he encourages his listeners. Bravo!! I'm glad this podcast is not about me.

Thank you!
I discovered your podcast through a recent MPR episode and I love it! I live in a small, isolated town in Minnesota and this is a great way to hear other (non-Scandinavian) perspectives.

Listening and Connecting
Levi's genuine curiosity and innate warmth shine through in these insightful, honest, funny and warm conversations about often-difficult topics. Highly recommended for people who are, you know, people.

Good stuff
At first I was skeptical, because how was this going to be any different than your typical white left-leaning interviewer of a person of color or someone outside heteronormative gender codes? But it is. These are good conversations between interesting, funny and intelligent people. Levi tries to acknowledge his background and how it informs his questions. And his guests seem to feel comfortable enough to be honest in their responses (whether about their experiences or how they perceive his question). Listening to this was a good use of time for me.

Helpful and funny
Conversations about identity that give you perspectives you may not have any insight into. A real chance to sit and listen to someone else's story. Excellent work. I already want to listen to a second season.

Love the voices here
Levi Weinhagen does podcasts really well, with warmth and camaraderie that create episodes that are easy to listen to and learn from. "Not About You" is no exception. This is a guy who really wants to hear, which is super valuable in terms of drawing people out. "Not About You" is a joy to listen to.

A must-listen
It seems impossible to believe that such challenging conversations could be had in such a funny, accessible way, but Levi and his guests do this so well. Really warm and thoughtful, excellent dialogue.

Great Conversations
This series of conversations with some really passionate and thoughtful people helps free us all to share our own stories and mote to a different and better place of understanding when it comes to race, class, identity and so much more.
Thoughtful Giving
This is so important!
These conversations are ones that everyone should listen to. In a world full of talkers, listening is so much more valuable, especially right now. We all have different experiences and I'm happy this podcast celebrates that.

We need these conversations
The challenges of cross-cultural communication can unfortunately lead some to paralysis. While it is important for all groups to be able to express their identities authentically in a pluralistic society, sometimes that is read as "you can't possibly understand me." Perhaps, but we must always try. Levi has engaging, funny and relevant conversations with a diverse group of people working in social justice, giving each an opportunity to say what questions they're tired of hearing from people outside their group. It's a great entry point for conversations about real and missed connections between people in our cross-cultural society.

Funny, Vulnerable and Insightful
I love these interviews - they are such beautifully nuanced insight into different people’s lived experiences. Levi and his guests are so generous and vulnerable and I love that Levi is willing to ask the “dumb” questions so we can hear the answers and responses. I also love the voicemail responses and especially Taj’s contribution to each show!

Thank you
It's a testament to the heart and vision of Levi that this podcast is here. This is so sorely needed and I'm excited to tag along on a journey that sheds light on the cultures and communities that have for too long struggled in the shadows. Great work Brother. Please explore military veterans and their/our experiences. I'm a 100% supporter and would love to contribute in any way that I can. Let's build a community around this journey. Forever grateful, Paul Riedner
