De decimalisering maakte een eind aan de onderverdeling van guldens in 20 stuivers van elk 8 duiten. De voet en de roede werden ingeruild voor meters, centimeters en kilometers. Maar tijdmeting werkt nog steeds heel onhandig met zestig minuten in een uur en 24 uren in een dag.
