Can’t stop, won’t stop
This is my favorite podcast. Since discovering it i 2019 I have lost track of the number of times I’ve started back at the first episode. I’m currently listening to season 3 for like the 8th time or whatever and I STILL laugh out loud. I never shut up about this show, and I’m always ready to preach the gospel of Jeff and Ryan. -Julian Titus, host of The Stage Select podcast

An RPG national treasure!
This podcast strikes a nice balance of treating the source material with respect while also being ABSOLUTELY hilarious. Only a few episodes into FF4 and I’m already hooked. Well worth your time!

Gold right out of the gate
I started listening to this podcast immediately after hearing their ad on an old episode of The Greatest Generation. Jeff and Ryan have such great chemistry and humor that, after bingeing two and a half seasons of NOCKAT, I realized I hadn’t returned to TGG in a month because my itch for a self-effacing nerd comedy duo was being completely scratched by NOCKAT. Today I picked up where I left off in TGG and found myself listening to the same P1 message that turned me on to NOCKAT in the first place — I had run immediately to NOCKAT after one ad and left TGG frozen in time. Jeff and Ryan, you give TGG a run for their money. You’re stellar company, you’re talented editors, and you clearly work hard. Keep it up!

Must-listen podcast for Final Fantasy fans. Too much bananas.
NOCKAT is a great podcast I have recommended to other FF fans. The way Ryan and Jeff’s personalities and perspectives bounce off each other, plus the layers of present and post-play analysis make this podcast way more entertaining than it has any right to be. Add on the nostalgia of reliving favorite games from my youth, and it’s made it onto my weekly must-listen podcasts list. My only critique: The banana content ain’t it guys. The initial saga was mildly amusing, but several minutes of banana commentary every episode across multiple seasons is not an ingredient you want to add to the regular recipe here. The bit got so overdone and annoying a long time ago and I’ve started going 2x speed or skipping through it. Enough with the bananas please, holy moly, let it go.

Honestly look forward to hearing this podcast. Used to binge this show and have been waiting for them to play FFIX.

A Good Ol' Time
I wasn't sure if I'd be able to follow this, since I've only played FF7 and some of FF8 in my youth. I was happy to discover that I was able to keep up with it and be entertained. Jeff and Ryan are hilarious and have a really endearing friendship. Their essential third host is Jeff's dog, Halley, who is a good girl. They go through their ups and downs on their journey through the games. They do a great job at describing the visuals to make it accessible for an audio format. I particularly like the way they have edited it, with commentary from when they play the game as well as some retrospective thoughts as they edit the season. I've been listening to them while I work, and it's been a blast. Give it a listen if you enjoy videogames, friendship, and dogs!

Positive review subject line.
One of the funnest podcasts I’ve ever listened to. Whether your listening to them make sloppy joes or bet on chocobo races you're sure to have a good time.

One of my favorite podcasts
I downloaded the Podcasts app just to write this review to celebrate the start of season 7! I've been listening to these guys for over 5 years, and they keep getting better. Jeff and Ryan are great. Their moogle Halley (sp?) is even better. You should all listen to their pain and suffering (and most important, their enjoyment) as they play all the Final Fantasys. FF9 is gonna be great, so you should all join me on their Patreon, too, at Patreon.com/nockat

Don’t forget to save
As someone who’s working on playing FFVII for the first time, this podcast is great to listen to. Sure, it’s a little crass for my taste, but in the end it ‘s just two guys having a (mostly) good time, with you along for a fun ride. Love listening to it at work on long nights, it makes my mood way better. Thank you guys for all the hard work!

Great podcast
It’s great listening to 2 first timers (kinda) make all the greatest mistakes you can in the world of final fantasy. Very funny! I just hope they can make it without saving. 🙂

the BEST ff podcast
I love this podcast and literally recommend it to EVERYONE I come across who loves games—especially those who love ff. I first discovered it while searching for something about final fantasy but it’s so much more than just that. These two are hilarious and entertaining and they never fail to make me laugh along with them. I hope they don’t stop playing through these games or even play through others once they are done with the ff series.

Awesome Podcast - A Must Listen for RPG/FF Fans
This podcast keeps me going during my 9-5. It makes me feel like I’m hanging out and gaming with these guys. Keep it up! Highly recommend if you love Final Fantasy and are into RPG’s.

So much fun
This podcast is such a perfect throwback to all the hours spent in my room playing final fantasy games until I passed out. I’ve listened to every episode and became a Patreon subscriber, they’ve made me laugh so hard and smile so much I wish I could give more. Just wanted to update my review to say I’m listening to the entire show over again. It’s become an all time favorite podcast, it’s total comfort food. Jeff and Ryan manage to capture the all the joys of binging FF games while being mature enough to reflect on why we do these ridiculous things. It’s just a fantastically entertaining show.

How did they manage to make an audio-only let’s play fun??
These guys have great comedic chemistry! The colorful narration of the game creates some fantastic imagery of what’s happening in the game, especially while listening to the titles I haven’t played yet.

Feels like watching your friends playing Final Fantasy
A podcast about the entire experience of playing Final Fantasy games that also includes audible delights such as: • fishing • tech deck stunts • a chewing noise gameshow • meal prep • mazes • weather reports • a cute dog!

Podcast Concept Fully Realized
What a joy of a podcast. “Listen to two dudes play Final Fantasy” is a hard sell on paper, but this show is much more. The personality of the dudes and the quality and effort put into the editing is what gives this show staying power. This is what podcasting was all about: empowering creators to create specialized high quality content to a very niche audience. I wish this show the very best and hope to see them see this mission the whole way through, because this is worth it.

It’s like you’re playing through with them
These jerks are hilarious and listening to them go through the FF games is the perfect meld of my podcast nerdiness and rpg nerdiness. I CANNOT WAIT for them to get to FF6 *Update: They’re on FF8 and they’re still my favorite podcast.

Nerd Rage in a Fun Way
It’s very relatable and funny if you’ve ever played a final fantasy. These games are amazing and terrible and confusing and fun all at once. Their reactions to ff8 in particular are hilarious in particular. But maybe we don’t need another ff2 style season where there’s nothing good about the game? I’d be fine with skipping those types of installments in the series.

And I don’t even like Final Fantasy...
I’m a gamer but I do not enjoy turn-based RPGs. I’ve never played a single FF game but I listen to this podcast. It’s that entertaining.
Whizbang17
Shouldn’t work, but it really does
It shouldn’t work to listen to people play a game, but in this case it really does. Real time play mixed with post game commentary makes it all easy and fun to follow. I really like FF games, but doubt I’ll ever play all of them so this is a great way to experience them. And what an editing nightmare it must be - kudos to Jeff and Ryan for taking the time to put it all together. Finally, dude friendships can be hard to come by for many; it’s cool how good of a friendship these guys have. Probably why it all works so well.

A weird treasure, perfect for people who love, hate or are confused by FF
about six months ago I thought to myself, "I wonder if there's a podcast where they play every Final Fantasy. hah, I bet it has a really ridiculous name." so I googled play...every...final...fantasy podcast, and behold No One Can Know About This came up NOCKAT is a timelessly confused podcast where they play every FF game (so far, up to 7, in US release order, so 1-4-6-7). they cut it up into one-hour chunks and include recordings from the play sessions, from meals and reflections surrounding the play sessions, and post commentary from the editing bay. the result is a version of Final Fantasy that's wayyy more digestable than, like, actually playing these awful games, peppered--no, fully salted--with deranged tangents about where the Jerky Boys are now and whether or not Reno is still the biggest little city in the world. at one point we receive a full pitch for Bill and Ted 3, before that was a real thing: they should've made NOCKAT's. even if you don't care about Final Fantasy--and this show will make you both care a lot and remind you that you shouldn't care at all, not just about Final Fantasy, but maybe about anything, ever--this is a good listen. check it out.

My dudes. Thanks for your hard work, I enjoy the sick pod every week.

A fantastic voyage
A podcast where two men face a challenge nobody should ever take on, and touch the brink of insanity in the process. Expect wild tangents, great bits, and, of course, Final Fantasy. It’s absolutely incredible. Plus, most running gags are contained to their own season, so you can pick up with season one, then hop right into season three without feeling like you’ve missed anything. Not many podcasts do that, and while you should run in terror at the words “Who’s Chewing What,” these guys really do care. “Listen to this podcast. This.. may be our last chance.”

Incredibly entertaining to listen while working.
Listening to this podcast while trudging along through my workday actually makes me excited to go to work. BTW, I’m a service plumber, and it was so funny listening to you guys discuss your toilet issue in season 4. Also, to the general public, Biden is the most laughable president we’ve ever had while Kamala produces an insane joker laugh every time she says anything at all and racism is not as bad as the mainstream media forces you to think.

awesome despite chewing noises
I love listening to their commentary on the games and whatever else happens to cross their minds. They do burp/eat/sip/crunch/swallow into their mics every once in a while, which causes a viscerally disturbed "rip off my headphones now" reaction for me. I can't stand the sound of chewing, not even my own, so sometimes I have to skip 30 seconds - 5 minutes until the chewing/burping is over. Maybe they could eat on the side of the couch furthest from the mic? These moments are trivial compared to the hours and hours of great entertainment they've given me.

All too relatable, but still v fun.
This show to me is this sort of cathartic trip though RPG-heavy phases I've gone through since adolescence. I think they bring a funny and frank examination about what makes (or made, in many cases) these games good, bad, over and under-rated. I'd like to see them talk about other series too sometime.

Like playing with friends
This podcast is so funny and so relatable! It really does remind me of playing with my friends and calling out all the weird nonsense but in a loving way. The podcast is more about the hosts friendship than a deep introspection of the games. For me, that is a perfect take on a beloved series because really it brings people together. This is one of my favorites every week and I hope they continue for a long time!

somehow deeply meaningful?
while making the most ostensibly immature podcast you could imagine, they somehow manage to have deep and insightful discussions on the human condition, i’m not even certain you need nostalgia or current knowledge of final fantasy to enjoy this.

What would you think if I told you there is a podcast of two guys who fought in multiple wars side by side, were universally declared heroes, and owned an airship? Pretty cool huh; makes you think of oh I don’t know, pick your favorite sports team growing up, for me it was sandy Koufax pitching in the 1965 World Series. Now what if I told you those two guys were actually not heroes but folks who wiped out thousands of random monster races from multiple planets? Makes you wonder....... history has always been a story of those who are the victors and that’s no different in the story we’re talking about today. NOCKAT is the story of two men, either loved as heroes, or villains committing the biggest war atrocities known to man, it all depends on which side of the coin you land on. What does it mean to save the world? Objectively if one were to say stop a meteor from hitting the planet and wiping out all life as we know I think they’d be universally declared a hero. But what about the nuance of grinding for hours on sewer rats and decimating their ranks such that they are now listed as endangered? Becomes a little murky wouldn’t you say? For the next couple months we’re going to explore just what it is about a story, told from a certain perspective, that makes someone a hero, at least in the eyes of those that wrote the history. I’ll end with a quote from the great, and most would call him great, general Kisaragi when he said before the famous battle of Wutai QUOTE people of Wutai, today we go into noble battle, many of us will not sup tonight. May leviathan have mercy upon our enemies because we certainly won’t! END QUOTE Now of course Wutai famously got demolished in the battle to follow but really doesn’t it make you wonder? What if they had won?

The Final Fantasy gamer's dream come true
When it comes to gaming podcasts, No One Can Know About This is the perfect balance of feel-good Final Fantasy nostalgia, combined with exposure into the adventures you never had the time or patience to experience on your own. If you’re the kind of person who’s searching “Final Fantasy” in the podcast bar, then consider your search complete--- Jeff and Ryan have created a masterpiece of a show that is a blast to listen to for various aspects. First and foremost, you have the trips down memory lane of the Final Fantasy games you know and love. While the games themselves don’t necessarily get better (season 5---FF2---is a great example of that), the seasons and production quality by these two men absolutely do. To have complete games--- and yes, “complete” is accurate, as these two go through all sidequests!--- edited down masterfully into easily digestible hour-long episodes is a phenomenal aspect of NOCKAT, and a testament to how much effort and time these two have clearly put into this process. They do an excellent job of going through the adventures, effectively describing the scenery and story elements to the listener, and making us feel as if we are playing along with them (including hearing the music in the background!). Special shout out for the voice acting on many characters--- Barrett’s John Wayne deserves an award. You experience the same emotions along with Jeff and Ryan---except, of course, when you’re having too much fun laughing at their peak moments of frustration. But where the true genius of NOCKAT lies, and what separates it from other podcasts, are the random jokes and deep dives these two do while playing. I would describe it as akin to a play-by-play announcer with a color commentator, and Jeff and Ryan can do both roles incredibly well. While one will be playing/explaining what’s going on in the game, the other may be doing research on the Jerky Boys, explaining the origination of the ridiculous ‘Twins’ Coors Light commercial, or going into detail about a hypothetical Seinfeld episode about serial Returners of items. It sounds crazy, but you have to experience it to understand how fun it can be. You’ll feel as if you are hanging out with these two, laughing out loud as you get in on the inside jokes that continue on throughout episodes, like something from Arrested Development. The random jokes are included during otherwise less action-packed parts of the FFs (ie grinding, traveling), and never interrupt or throw off the flow of the actual game’s stories. You’ll have to listen for the clip of Jeff’s high school stand up debut! NOCKAT has been a gem to stumble across, and with the production improvement season after season, it’s become my favorite show to listen and laugh to while two men undergo the monumental (insane?) task of playing every Final Fantasy. Can’t recommend this enough!!!

A Must Listen for Game Nerds!
As a completionist, I've always wanted to play through all the Final Fantasy games, but have never had the time to really delve into the series in chronological order - that's where this podcast comes in!

Thank you!
This podcast is amazing, funny and sometimes very deep and touching, it means the world to me because it has helped me during some really low points of my life, marathoning episodes when depressed and anxious helps me make it through, and I got to share it with my dad since he introduced me to final fantasy as a kid. Thank you so much, looking forward to more episodes! Especially when you play my favorite game, ix

I Love These Guys
Humor, positivity, and a surprising amount of philosophizing about Del Taco. Final Fantasy IV (Season Two) is one of my favorite games of all time and it was a joy to hear them rip it to shreds. UPDATE: Still good thru Season 4 (Final Fantasy VII). As each season gets longer, Jeff and Ryan have gotten more and more creative with the concept, adding in various subplots that develop over time (usually as part of their tongue-in-cheek ad reads). What else can I say: It’s the closest thing you can get to playing Final Fantasy while driving without violating every traffic law!

Couldn’t finish...
The quality/editing of the Audio is good, but the content is really awful. I don’t get playing a game and consistently bashing it though out— couple that with constant “HAHAHHAHA” over things that aren’t funny.

The actual perfect podcast

A surprise triumph!
I have the feeling this exact concept for a podcast has been thought of, committed to, and abandoned by dozens of potential content creators. The idea is so simple and beautiful. The way they blend real time recordings of play sessions with post session debriefings and then months removed analysis is pitch perfect. This is the podcast I had always wanted and I’m so glad that Jeff and Ryan were the ones to do it. A ton of work goes into these episodes and it shows. They are charming even at their bleary-eyed sleep-deprived worst. It captures the feeling of a sleepover with some of your best friends playing some of the best (and worst) games of all time. I love this podcast<3

It’s Always Sunny in Midgar
No One Can Know About This is not your Grandfather’s podcast. It’s not your father’s podcast. It’s not your podcast. This podcast is in a class of its own. It will take you on a ride. You don’t know where you’re going, and neither do the hosts, Jeff and Ryan. Nockat is an experience. If you wanted to understand the story of the Final Fantasy games, go read a wiki. If you want to get on the weirdest and wettest roller coaster you’ve ever been on, subscribe to Nockat. When you subscribe to Nockat, you subscribe to all of it. From writing a children’s animated film about a bull who just wants to run a china shop, to a segment called “Who’s chewing what?” A bit that you hope will be one and done, but you know in your heart that these monsters will never let it die. Every episode of this podcast is a fever dream of steampunk fantasy in the game, and a contemporary epic in the quest for things such as clotted cream and armored bananas. It’s a history lesson on the Jerky Boys and a legitimately heartfelt lesson on accepting the consequences of your past decisions. If you’re brave enough, throw everything you know about Final Fantasy out the window and put your blind faith in these two men who can’t read backwards. You will not be disappointed, but you will be disgusted.

The Examined Game
I was never much into the final fantasy series, not from a dislike of the genre, but simply due to not having the games. Jeff and Ryan serve as amazing viewpoints into the series for someone like me, dedicated to playing the games as well as they can, but fallible enough to miss stuff from time to time. This is genuinely one of my all time favourite podcasts, and if you haven’t check it out your missing out!
