Always a delight
I love getting to start my week with No Bad Ideas. The hosts are fantastic, the guests are amazing, and the ideas are always truly, astonishingly bad. Thank you for 100 wonderful episodes, looking forward to many more <3

Nothing I love more than a podcast with a totally random concept
There are many types of podcasts. They tell you about a topic. Rewatch podcasts. Audio fiction. And then there’s my favorite type, the “hey lets do this thing and also tape it.” No bad ideas is a beautiful example.

I was destined to leave this review today because this podcast is a 10/10
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started listening, but as I heard them spin that first episode’s bad idea into a developed story (that I wouldn’t be against paying to see/hear a production of), it only deepened my appreciation for Zach, Sarah, and Gabriel. Not only does this podcast fulfill my curiosity to peek into their minds as a Wolf 359 fan, but it leaves me laughing and also thoughtful about writing stories, and writing/creating in general. I support you guys so much, thank you for sharing this podcast (and all the other things you create) with us!

Just listen, it
This podcast helps me see how things in everyday life can be made into awesome stories. There are no bad ideas if you try hard enough :)

Hi!
As a long time listener first time caller, I’d just like to say that I thoroughly enjoy listening to No Bad Ideas and it’s been really neat to be able to hear your creative processes! Hope you keep this going for a while, it’s really enjoyable to listen to!

Funny & Endearing
Hooked even further with GATTACA and Dollhouse mention, my kind of people! 🤓 Another all-around great project from Zach, Sarah and Gabriel. From a non-writer their chats, musings and advice are very relatable to aspects of my life. I love their camaraderie and rapport, it’s fulfilling to listen to a group of people who support each other wholeheartedly. My days are brightened by this and the “bad ideas!”

Very Helpful
Even as a person who is not a "writer" this is helpful in over coming obstacles in productivity and dealing with negative thoughts etc... Great advice for any creative enterprise not just writing. Or any productive enterprise, just being more productive around the office! I listen at my cubicle and it is very helpful :)

Listening makes me reenergized to create things
The ideas and the stories that come from them are hilarious, but I equally love the back end where Sarah, Zach, and Gabrielle discuss issues related to being a creative person. Listening to this podcast reenergizes me creatively and I love it to bits.

Humorous Inspiration
I really appreciate this podcast because it helps to inspire me to actually write! I have a full time job that I absolutely love BUT I don't feel like I am getting my creativity out with it. This show helped me to "pick up my pen" again, I used to write short stories all the time but I stopped when college got intense (yay engineering degree). Now with all the inspiration in this podcast I've started writing again (just for fun) and I do seriously credit these guys! As a side note: I think the Catfish throwing episode would have gone way differently if they knew The Detroit Red Wings have a weird habit of throwing octopi on the ice as well. Their story could have gone from prank movie to road trip trope with a "throw swap" where two strangers become friends/lovers? Looking forward to hearing more episodes and getting more advice from this cool group!

Ahh, writers not writing
Cathartic for my soul. This podcast is an absolute joy. Now the podcasters just need to watch the show ‘Leverage’, which it’s so obvious you don’t after hearing you try to write a heist movie!

Amazing!
I have laughed out loud so many times listening to this podcast. I loved Wolf 359 and am so happy to have found this too. I have always struggled with writing (though I love to read) but I keep getting inspired while listening! I highly recommend this podcast!

There is no such thing as a bad idea- it's what you do with it that makes or breaks it.
No Bad Ideas is a delightful podcast about 3 creators taking a bad idea and turning it into a good story with only their imagination (and a 30 minute timer) stopping them. Afterwards (for the second half of the podcast) they talk about creativity, producing content, their personal struggles, or other various facets that interest (or are relevant to) creators. I highly recommend this podcast to anybody who loves crazy stories and to content creators looking for inspiring writing/creative advice... or just a bit of validation from 3 creators working their butts off as freelancers in New York. It's funny, enjoyable, and helps give me the strength to persevere with my own projects.

Stop what you’re doing and listen...to No Bad Ideas
No Bad Ideas is hands down the podcast I look forward to the most each week. Sarah, Gabriel, and Zach (the minds behind Wolf 359 and Time Bombs) bring you a “bad idea” from the internet — the more cringeworthy, anxiety-inducing, laugh-out-loud terrible, the better — then take 30 hilarious minutes to turn this “bad idea” into a story of some sort, usually with an actual plot. I’ve gotten some very weird looks from strangers because I laughed so hard I cried in public (looking at you, Ep. 3, “We Don’t Wanna Do Batman, We Wanna Do Chaos”). The second half of the show is the trio discussing writing and the process of existing as a creative person in the world. As someone who is constantly struggling with balancing my musician/writer brain and my full time day job, this part is particularly endearing because it reminds all of us that even “real writers” are still imperfect, wonderful humans who also struggle with time management and procrastination. If you’re new to the podcast, my personal favorites are Ep. 3, Ep. 6 (“Yabba-Dabba-Don’t”), and Ep. 11 (“Sharknappers!!”).

A Haiku (Updated Review)
A Haiku: "One bad idea, Three writers and a Tiffy. Oh, what could go wrong?" You guys! First of all, thank you so much for bringing Wolf359 into this world. Secondly, this podcast is such a treat, too! It's hilarious and inspirational. I've been wanting to write a script for a potential podcast, with a story I've been developing for twelve years. Thanks to you three, I've been thinking more about this, and not letting myself have any "zero days." You all are the best <3

Not A Haiku
This podcast is a blessing in several ways. The first segment—the game show portion—provides laughter and tremendous insight into the thought process behind collaborative writing. The second segment, however, is even more valuable to me. These people are writers in my age bracket, trying to figure out how to maintain creativity alongside (or on top of) day to day living. It helps that I already like their personalities from previous podcasts (Wolf 359, Timebombs) as well as their associated social media, but I do think these people have an uncanny degree of charisma even for outsiders.

I’ve been in a slump of creativity, and hearing professionals sling around ideas and have real conversations about creative struggles is really helping me get myself on track. I love the show and can not wait to hear what y’all dig up next! I’m recommending this to all my writer friends.

If You Need to be Inspired, Tune Your Ears no Further
Writing advice podcasts can often feel like they’re throwing lots of suggestions and tactics on writing and editing at you, making it feel like a mountain has suddenly been erected in front of you as you attempt to conquer your writing project, especially when it comes from a bestselling author who’s not necessarily worrying about where the next paycheck is coming from. No Bad Ideas is a different kind of writing advice podcast. It’s a safe, welcoming, comforting place that will leave you feeling inspired and hopeful. The first half hour of the show is spent tackling a truly terrible idea that one of the three hosts has scoured from the dark depths of the internet. The idea is often ridiculous to the extreme, and the trio spends the next thirty minutes taking it apart and synthesizing a new, cohesive, and always much better idea that can be for TV, the big screen, or a book. It’s often amazing the great idea that is created from such a very bad one from the team. The second half of the show is the three of them talking about their creative endeavors. Everything is laid out on the table, as each of them bares their creative souls essentially, and then together they work to give help and advice. Sometimes there is no solution, but just talking about the struggles feels at the very least cathartic. I never feel like I’m having advice fired at me, as a listener, but more like I’ve been given the privilege to hang out as a fourth member in the room (or more accurately, Zach’s studio basement), which always feels so rewarding. As such, I support No Bad Ideas on Patreon, because I feel l get so much from the show, and want to give back. So if you’re looking for a writing podcast that’s like no other; that is a welcoming place where there’s laughter but also a baring of one’s creative fears without any fault, you can’t go wrong with No Bad Ideas.

No (Some) Nonsense Inspiration
I love listening to these guys. They always motivate me to commit to the creative work I want to put out into the world. They’re excellent casters, always entertaining, and just A+ weird and wonderful creatives. If you like any kind of creative or inspirational stuff, you love these folks.

Before the story is told, find the joy of telling it.
With a deceptively simple premise on the face, these episodes of a hangout-style “game show” end up leading an aspiring writer back to the foundations of oral storytelling and such a journey per week is worth every one of a 90-ish minute runtime. Every Wednesday, one of its three regular host brings in a news item or idea and pitches it to the two others. From there, a furiously fun demolition and reconstruction of the subject takes place, wherein the three hosts craft a narrative that ostensibly would be palatable to a public audience, be it on the big screen, stage, or page. This show is fun, friendly, and a great listen for anyone feeling apart of a funny and organic conversation about storytelling. Need I say more? Okay. Other, more established screenwriters have gone with this conceit, but rarely do we feel such genuine chemistry between the hosts. These are “three smart people” shooting the breeze in a way that simultaneously brings to mind nights by the campfire with friends, and also some strange symbiotic vampirism that results in pure creativity. Often, revelations about a story beat will result in a group chorus of “Oh My God”. That euphoria is shared by the listener. These subjects usually tiptoe the line of the absurdist, from The competition aspect is little more than a “Whose Line Is It Anyway”-style excuse to inject a harried energy into the proceedings, a constant reminder that no one is waiting around for you to “perfect” your story. You only command attention once. This energy too, becomes subject to deconstruction in the second half of the show, when the hosts segue into a discussion of the trials and tribulations of existing as a hard-working, ambitious creative artist. This is done with refreshing candor. Need I say more? Well you don’t get anymore. You should already be listening.

Wholesome and Encouraging
As a writer I really appreciate this idea of trying to challenge yourself to embrace the crazy side of things. It’s very easy to overthink ideas and start to put them away and never think of them again, but this helps me to both laugh and also remember that the idea doesn’t make a good story, it’s the direction the writer goes with it that does. I also really enjoy the second portion where they talk about their writing process and answer questions, as I find it very helpful!

A Haiku (and a Review)
What a true blessing Zach, Sarah, and Gabriel Have done it again But actually this show is so much fun—I love seeing how these creators’ develop ideas and listening to their advice on writing and working creatively, and get very excited every time I see a new episode is up. If you liked Wolf 359, you’ll definitely like the stories they come up with here.

Very Encouraging
Great to hear from the creators of Wolf 359 again. As someone who is currently dabbling in writing, it’s very encouraging and helpful to have a group of writers/creators who are checking in about their progress. For example, hearing about the difficulties they have had and what advice they’ve found helpful. Also there’s the very interesting ideas they bring to the table to discuss haha

Good friends having interesting conversations
It’s so wonderful to hear three people who are clearly incredible storytellers and very good friends just hold a conversation about storytelling. I also really miss Wolf 359 and it’s great to hear more from the people behind it! I generally listen to podcasts on the Overcast app but had to hop on over to this app just to express how much I’m enjoying the podcast.

solid time with creative buds
this show makes me so happy every time it pops up in my podcast feed - it’s full of goofy (bad) ideas but also a lot of real wisdom and contemplation of what it means to be a writer/artist/creative. NO BAD IDEAS offers up thought-provoking questions and interesting perspectives on the daily work of making art, and it’s just a real good time. you will laugh and you will maybe cry and you’ll be inspired to keep on creating.

“Undeniably lightweight, but breathlessly entertaining”
The paths they take are hilarious and the stories they create always make me laugh. A great place for creativity advice, and a way to see how different people create and expand new ideas. Hearing how “professionals” brainstorm and keep their creative juices flowing is great. This is definitely worth a listen, whether you are looking for a laugh or for writing advice. The creative minds behind Wolf 359 just keep giving.

Fun and gives you concepts to think about
I love this trio with all my heart. They’re witty, creative, and they make someone who doesn’t usually enjoy non fiction podcasts have a great time. No Bad Ideas is a cool approach to brainstorming and getting the most out of a weird situation. It feels really intimate, like you’re right there having a ball with Gabriel, Sarah, and Zach. TLDR: check NBI out! You won’t regret it, and there are plenty of laughs to be had.

Like listening to creative friends
It’s nice when you get to hear a group of people that really enjoy talking to one another. They sit around, finding a story that could be made from bad ideas they find out on the internet. They laugh, tease and actually come up with story ideas I would love to hear more about. They all genuinely all seem to like and respect one another. If you are a creative person, I’m sure this podcast will inspire you. If you just enjoy listening to humorous pods, it’s perfect for that as well.

All my faves talking about writing
So I absolutely love the writing team from Wolf 359, both because they wrote a fantastic podcast and because they have wonderful and interesting personalities. This podcast gives me everything I ever wanted. My favorite people talk about writing in an unscripted and honest way, and I also absolutely love the zany story ideas they’ve created so far. Worth listening to for any fans of Wolf 359 and/or writing. Keep up the great work guys!

Full of joy, positivity, and frank honesty about the creative process
Sarah, Zach, and Gabriel are awesome to listen to; they truly sound like three friends hanging out and having fun with creative stuff. Their discussions of their creative processes and the hurdles to overcome are relatable and encouraging. They never give the sense that there’s one correct way to be creative, just discuss what works for them in a very genuine and open way. After listening to a couple episodes, I was filled with renewed energy to sit down in front of my own projects that I’d been avoiding. Overall, a lovely and warm podcast, like hot chocolate for the creative soul

Lovely, Low-Key, and Hilarious
Want a change of pace of pace for old, clichéd, borderline violent writing advice (i.e. "bleed in front of typewriter")? Want to hear three incredibly smart people do something incredibly silly? Want to be reminded that you do not have to be perfect to be creative? No Bad Ideas is your show. Equal parts charming, funny, and useful, it is a timely piece of advice and encouragement for writers and non-writers alike. You don't have to be podcasters like the hosts to relate to fears of sharing something you've worked really hard on or the challenge of figuring out how you want to spend your life. This is a show that says it's okay not to have everything figured out right away--in fact, that's the point. That's the process. There are no shortcuts, only some crazy ideas and the stories spun from them.

Creative, Casual, and Constantly Funny
Starting out with a strong premise, this team (responsible for a whole host of great podcast content already, including Wolf 359 and the recently released Time Bombs) delves into the ins and outs of writing through some of the most creative-yet-hilarious ideas I've heard in a while. (Not bad ones, though. There are no bad ideas here.) A must-listen for writers, evil scientists, or really anyone interested in the ins and outs of stories or looking to have a good time. If they can turn eBay death rays into something plausible and coherent, there's no telling where they'll go next, and I can't wait to listen to more and more episodes of this great podcast in the future.

Hilarious and motivating
A great new show from the creators of Wolf 359 and Time Bombs. I love to laugh at the hilarious ideas they spin into compelling stories, and their discussions of writing and creativity have motivated me to finally get working on some creative writing projects myself. This show has helped me learn to be less judgmental of my own writing and to not get caught up in my own anxieties when trying to express a story. Seriously love this show, please give it a listen.

New Favorite Writing Podcast
This show is a cure for that all-too-present feeling in many writers that “it’s all been done before, so what’s the point in trying to make something new?” The segment in which they explore different concepts shows that not only are there no bad ideas, but each idea can be taken down infinite different paths based on the individuals who handles them. The personal experiences shared by the cast are also a comfort in reminding us that no one is alone in their creative efforts. Would recommend for all writers trying to make good works.
