Pentecost: Ordinary People Received and Empowered by God for Service
This service, serving as the climax of the pentecost week convention, Centres on the message of God using ordinary people for history-changing service. The speaker, Presiding Elder Biney, draws a powerful parallel between the old testament presentation of loaves in Leviticus, and the new Testament outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts, emphasizing that God chooses, consecrates, and empowers ordinary, imperfect people to fulfill His Divine Kingdom. Worship with us at Pentecost, East Legon Worship Centre, every Sunday at 7:30am. Shalom - peace, and life to you!

The importance of Tithing
The sermon by Elder Emmanuel Agyei lets us understand that tithing in Scripture is presented as a sacred response to God’s sovereignty rather than as a mere religious payment. It begins with Abraham, who voluntarily gave a tenth of his spoils to Melchizedek after his victory, demonstrating reverence and recognition of divine authority and provision. This principle appears again in Jacob’s vow and is later established within Israel’s covenant system to sustain temple worship, support ministers, and care for the poor, widows, orphans, and foreigners. Throughout biblical history, prophets rebuked Israel whenever they neglected this responsibility, emphasizing that withholding tithes reflected spiritual unfaithfulness. In the New Testament, the principle is affirmed while the focus is placed on the condition of the heart, showing that tithing is not a favor to God but a visible confession that all possessions ultimately come from Him. Thus, while the tithe is mathematically a tenth, its true meaning is spiritual and relational, expressing gratitude, obedience, stewardship, trust, and covenant loyalty.|| Scripture References ||Genesis 14:18–20, Genesis 28:20–22, Deuteronomy 26:12, Malachi 3:8–10, Psalm 24:1, Matthew 23:23
