In 1 Samuel 19, Saul's murderous intentions against David are no longer a secret and David is forced to flee. From this time on, he will live as an exile until he comes to the throne. Peter described the Christian life as the life of an exile. Since our citizenship is in heaven, all those in Christ live as exiles on this earth. This week Pastor David preaches a message about "Living in Exile" from 1 Samuel 19.

The prophet Samuel, whom God used to establish the kingship in Israel and anoint King David, had a godly mother. Hannah, who was barren, prayed to the Lord and God gave her Samuel. In the aftermath of David's battle with Goliath, his name was on the rise. But his greatness brought polarizing responses. Jonathan, Michal, and most all of Israel loved him, but Saul was being consumed with jealousy. The varying responses to David's rise depict the varying responses people have to God's Messiah, Jesus Christ. David vs. Goliath. The runt of his family vs. the giant of the Philistines. David did the unthinkable and defeated Goliath because he trusted in a God who was bigger than Goliath. David's great faith is seen in his battle with Goliath and challenges us to put our faith in the God who is bigger than anything we face.
