Started listening because Casey Toney edits some of my favorite podcasts (Skyjacks and Hey Riddle Riddle.) Love the random humor. And I love the crazy choices they make, and the consequences they later face. Great storytelling, and even BETTER music!!

Just started listening to this podcast about 2 days ago and I’m currently on episode 23 and it’s such a wonderful chaotic world that has filled my love of tabletop rpg’s.

I don’t think you’d want to hang out with them personally but you’d definitely want to hear your mutual friend Footsquirrel tell you all about their adventures at the next quilting bee. The Neoscum crew fight so hard for the people they care about that you’ll really wish you were the target of their ride-or-die friendship. I say “target” instead of “recipient” or “member” because… well… listen to the podcast and find out!

I read that this podcast got weird 30 minutes in, but having listened to a lot of role playing podcasts that are mostly improv, I found the players relatively sane at that point. Then one of them decided to pick a fight with an npc that was only there to correct a pop culture mistake and suddenly they're breaking in to a hotel room and using magic to punch the guy from across the hall (since the character is too out of shape and cowardly to actually fight him). I don't think I've ever heard an actual play that went that bizarre and I'm leaving out the weirder moments so you can also have your jaw hit the floor listening to it. If you love Satanic Panic or Campaign (one of the players is Binbon in Campaign), this is your new jam. There's a children's show tv villain, truckers, hackers, murder, an orc, corporate sabotage, accent work, a TON of improv, and a truck named Xanadu that you're going to fall in love with. So jack these (surprisingly soothing) voices in to your hearing outlet and upload a future that even William Gibson couldn't imagine.

I literally only listen for the sax riffs. The rest of the show is trash. -PP π

I am super surprised I haven’t already reviewed neoscum, because I am scummer for life y’all. I listen to this podcast in entirety at least once a year and I love every single time. The best characters, the best story, truly a masterclass in actual-play, IMO. Get on their Patreon it’s super worth it, sell your soul if u have to!

I’m on my 4th time listening thru and I still laugh at the bits and love listening to these goobers.

So many good things about this show from great characters and amazing GMing, to their ability to roll with improvised scenarios and story building. The music and guest actors are the cherry on top. The only problem I have with it is that now my bar for other actual plays is set too high.

What starts as a little bit of a bumpy ride becomes a train off the rails. Every episode is an evolution of the last. Better sound mixing, story telling, joke set up, character moments, and music integration. Neoscum is my new standard for real play rpg podcasts.

blasting through eps, easily my new favorite of the zillion actual plays i listen to. it’s gross and manic and if i have any ambient anxiety i have to pause constantly because the stakes feel so high!!! it deserves easily 3-4x the patreon subscribers that it has. i am glad they forced jpc to write a review right then as listening to him try to work through it made me wonder just how hard it was so this might be my first review in who knows how long. thanks for making amazing content, hope you guys get to tour (come to brooklyn) if i’d known about it before the last time HRR came thru i would have said hi to casey!!!! PS “keep me entertained” is such a good song i had been searching (badly) for a way to purchase the full night candy album since i started listening to you guys like 3 months ago. i finally found it, now i rev myself up with it daily! now i gotta find a hozac playlist lol. thanks!

This podcast took me a little bit to get into but I’m glad I stuck with it. The character development is hitting chef’s kiss levels! Gannon is such a great GM for this cast of fun chaotic characters. Stupidly horrendously amazing!

Neoscum is so good, the barrier of Actual Play is so high and can seem downright nerdy but Neoscum good. The music is iconic, the editing top notch, and is one of the rare instances where it feels like the GM is just as chaotic if not more crazy than the players. An unrestrained, exciting, and effortlessly diverse cyberpunk future; I listen on Spotify, but I made an iTunes account to review quality podcasts like Neoscum

This show is great! Here's why! Every member of the cast brings something unique and hilarious and lovely to the table. The characters are ultra-lovable and so are their actors. For real, I am in love with every person on this podcast! The GM is fantastic, always bringing energy and cool storytelling twists which allow the rest of the team to go on or off the rails as much as they like (and they really like). The editing and music is *chef's kiss* perfection. Also, the love these friends have for each other is extremely sweet and infectious. In conclusion! NeoScum good! Please listen!

My husband is a big fan, and I would always hear him laughing hysterically with his headphones when listening to NeoScum. On a roadtrip, we started from the beginning and I have not stopped laughing since. The NeoScum are so funny — their tangents and the long running gags from their gameplay have me rolling. This is a such a great escape, especially during quarantine. Even this dystopian cyber hellscape can provide some joy. Thanks NeoScum!

A talented group of freewheeling improvisers have a blast in this Shadowrun podcast. The setting and (sometimes frustrating) rules are merely a vehicle for telling a good story thanks to the work their GM. Factor in the wonderful sound design and music selections and you’ve got a solid recommendation from me!

I once read a review of Steven Soderbergh that he took good movies and made them great by cutting away all the stuff the audience didn’t need. I think if Soderbergh was doing an actual play podcast, you’d get NeoScum. Great editing and hyper-creative players keep the action moving from one laugh to the next. Start on episode 5 or 6 for optimal experience ;)

Don’t listen to this podcast if you don’t like hilarious people playing a ridiculous game together. But honestly it’s great, give it a listen.

Impeccably edited, a refreshing take on the genera, hilarious, off the wall. The list goes on. The game, characters, and story are incredible but I love the actual people in this podcast most of all. It’s a joy just to hear them joke, laugh, and riff off each other. They’re an incredible group of improvisers and and even better group of friends 💕

This podcast rules. It’s absolutely off the walls hilarious and also so so tender. It has kept me laughing through a real tough time in my life. This cast of goofy wackos with deep emotional issues ripping their way through dystopian America, leaving a trail of destruction and grief behind them.... somehow makes me feel seen? And the production quality, editing skills, brilliant storytelling, and passion that goes into this thing has literally made me gasp while listening.

hello internet! i’ve listened to a lot of podcasts in my time and none make me laugh harder than neoscum :) the story is full of weird characters and strange situations and the cast work so well off each other!! i’ve been listening for over two years now and the neoscum crew and their community have proven to be wonderful and hilarious time and time again. don’t miss out on the best goofs with the best people 💕

Hey well they seem like they’re having fun but after trying out a few eps I’m wondering why three guys with indistinguishable voices and personalities would start a podcast together. E for effort tho!

These excellent improvisers bring it in every episode. The laughs and jokes are a big part of this show making the deeper feels all the more impactful. Love Gannon’s special effect sounds as he brings the action. Love the snake that was having sex with a bird and the flying cats. Sometimes I get bummed when the players handicap themselves so hard and make it harder for themselves but so far - only started a few days ago - and I am in ep 51 - it has worked out. I was about to stop listening when Tech wiz was about to have an eye pop out from that critical glitch that was super wack for a specious endurance check. Anyway thanks for making this show.

I’m only on episode 15 but I can say I am in love. This cast is a collection of goofy guys and gals that makes me want to giggle my but clean off. Maximum happy.
