#11 - Autumn Freeman - PTSD, Anxiety, Suicidal Tendencies, Healing With Psilocybin Mushrooms, MDMA, and Cannabis
Our guest, Autumn Freeman on Instagram @justaddganja, has complex PTSD from prolonged childhood abuse, sexual assaults and an attack where she was stabbed in the face and chest. She never recovered from any of the trauma. So it compounded and got worse. She developed a Panic disorder and Major depression- a few suicide attempts and several hospitalizations over the course of her life, and it’s been really hard. Through brain scans done by top neuroscientists, they found that her brain had gone through so much trauma that is was damaged similar to that of a  traumatic brain injury. In 2006, she was introduced to Psilocybin mushrooms and MDMA. “At first psychedelic use was purely recreational. But after my first experience it was so exciting and enlightening that I started digging into Huxley and all the pioneers. I started to be more intentional with it. Over the course of maybe about 6 months, I was doing Psilocybin and MDMA self-assisted therapy” with her boyfriend. “During that time period, I was the most functional I had ever been in my entire life”.  Since recording this podcast, Autumn and her family have uprooted their lives and moved to Oregon in pursuit of gaining safe access to cannabis. In her immediate family, she has to treat autism, epilepsy, PTSD, TBI, and anxiety disorders. In her experience, cannabis and psilocybin containing mushrooms 100% help to both alleviate the symptoms and heal the damages caused by these illnesses.Thank you so much every one. Thank you for pushing on and continuing to be a human in this life. Thank you Autumn Freeman for being a guest on this show and sharing your experiences of trauma and healing and lack there of. #10 - Decriminalize Nature Portland, Oregon - Nick Combest - Home Is Where The Mushroom Grows - #thankyouplantmedicine
“Decriminalize Nature Portland is a grassroots cadre of Earth activists that are engaging the people of Portland, Oregon and beyond. We are banded together, bonded by our history with plants and fungus. People have cultural and spiritual relationships with psychedelic plants and mushrooms and we have the right to engage in communion that restores our connection with ourselves, each-other, and the Earth around us.”This conversation with Nick Combest is very informative and insightful, coming from someone who is absolutely connected with the nature of this universe. We- You and I- are all beautifully a part of life on this planet. This Decriminalize Nature movement is the fight for humans to be able to peacefully commune with plants and fungi that grow out of the ground. They aren’t drugs made in a lab. They’re plants and mushrooms. As grown adults, we have the right to educate ourselves about these living organisms in a peaceful environment without the ridicule of uneducated peers powered by uneducated laws. The goal here is to educate all, and transform our societal perception from the dull controlled past to a more connected, conscious community. Plant and fungi medicines and are believed to be the immunol voice of the Earth, reaching out to help us all see that life is beautiful, and this planet is worth actively being a part of. Support Mycoverse The Mushroom Podcast with Decriminalize Nature Portland decriminalizenaturepdx@gmail.comConnect with Mycoverse The Mushroom Podcast https://www.instagram.mycoversethemushroompodcast With Johanna Warren Arrangement09:29 “Black Moss” Johanna Warren14:33 “Plant Medicines Acoustic” Nathan Davila17:13 Conversation Starts43:38 “Legalize It (feat. #9 - Mushroom Madman Mandie Quark - Mycologist / Biochemist In The Heart Of Southern Appalachia Mushroom Hunting
Mushroom Madman Mandie Quark is a mycologist admirably following her dreams. She and her boyfriend/research partner moved to western North Carolina with a goal of collecting and cataloging rare fungal species. This is a fun and informative conversation about the science of mycology, mushroom foraging, and how to stay upbeat and creative in 2020. Conversation Starts @ 03:25 “Why should you take a madman seriously”? Mandie is trained as a research scientist, and a grant writer. She has a Masters in Biochemistry and a Bachelors in Chemistry, and she is certified by the state of North Carolina Department of Health and licensed to safely pick, identify, and sell wild foraged mushrooms in seven mid-atlantic states. Mandie has also been a keynote speaker and teacher at many mycology festivals and mushroom related events across the country. Now, with that entire history of achievements, Mandie decided to leave it all behind so that she could pursue life as a mycologist. The work that she and her research partner perform will help make this world a better place by discovering new mushrooms that could potentially help scientists direct the mechanisms of medicine and ecological healing, which many other fungi hold. If you would like to support Mandie and her mycological research, go to where you can either directly donate or purchase her exclusive one-of-a-kind mushroom photographs. I am so thankful for this opportunity to have spoken with Mandie and to share with you the conversation that we had. #6 - David Grillot #thankyouplantmedicine 2.20.2020 Coming Out Day For Psychedelic Healing
David Grillot#thankyouplantmedicine February 20th, 2020"Rick (Doblin), what do you think if we did a coming out campaign among everyone who's benefited from plant medecines or mushrooms or psychedelics- What if everyone on the same day said 'Thank You' and told their story? Right? Would this not combat the stigma and create waves on social media, and bring a lot of attention to the fact that there's extremely promising scientific studies. The fact that many of the top CEOs and business people are doing this and are credited for being able to think outside the box and see things in different ways- and the fact that it's a very pervasive thing in our society, but it's just so stigmatized" - David GrillotFive months later the list of involved supporters keeps growing, and the goal for having 100,000 stories of healing blasted over the internet via social media is well on track. This is, "a global grassroots movement to raise awareness about the healing potential of plant medicine and therapy-assisted psychedelics. Psilocybin, ayahuasca, cannabis, peyote, san pedro, iboga, LSD, MDMA and others".
