Proverbs 11:1-9
Hey ya'll! In this episode we're talking about overcoming pride, giving God the credit for our successes and the trap of ambition.  I'll also run through three fundamentals for social media in this week's coaching moment. Connect with Retha website | instagram | facebook | twitter Read along below or download the free YouVersion Bible app. Proverbs 11:1-9 The Lord detests dishonest scales,     but accurate weights find favor with him. When pride comes, then comes disgrace,     but with humility comes wisdom. The integrity of the upright guides them,     but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath,     but righteousness delivers from death. The righteousness of the blameless makes their paths straight,     but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness. The righteousness of the upright delivers them,     but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires. Hopes placed in mortals die with them;     all the promise of their power comes to nothing. The righteous person is rescued from trouble,     and it falls on the wicked instead. With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors,     but through knowledge the righteous escape.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Hey, ya'll! On this episode, I'm talking about Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 and how it's okay to ask for help. Matter of fact, God designed us to help one another. I've also got an update on what's happening in the My Light Still Shines community and a coaching segment about taking your practice to the next level. Read along below or download the free YouVersion Bible app. Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Hebrews 10:19-39
This week we're studying the full assurance of faith in Hebrews 10:19-39. Read along below or download the free YouVersion Bible app.   Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Remember those earlier days after you had received the light when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For "In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay." And "But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back." But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved. Connect with Retha website | instagram | facebook | twitter

SHINE! Matthew 4:1-11 NLT
This week we're studying the temptation of Jesus in Matthew 4:1-11. Read along below or download the free YouVersion Bible app. Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. During that time the devil came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread." But Jesus told him, "No! The Scriptures say, 'People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, "If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, 'He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone.'" Jesus responded, "The Scriptures also say, 'You must not test the LORD your God.'" Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. "I will give it all to you," he said, "if you will kneel down and worship me." "Get out of here, Satan," Jesus told him. "For the Scriptures say, 'You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.'" Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus.   Connect with Retha website | instagram | facebook | twitter
