My Husband Made Me Do It
My Husband Made Me Do It
Katie Reynolds and Lydea Irwin
Before plague ravaged the land, Katie's husband used to travel regularly for work. While sitting alone in hotels, airports and on airplanes, he found he had a lot of free time on his hands. Naturally, he started watching rom-coms to fill the time. And naturally, he started insisting that Katie watch the rom-coms with him when he got home. Sometimes, this was a sweet gesture. He wanted her to enjoy a cute or funny movie with him. Other times, it was just because the movie was so bad he needed someone else to suffer too.Enter Lydea, the couple's friend, who finds the forced rom-com watching thing very funny and wants to watch them too for some unknown reason. Not going to lie, folks, there will be some absolute duds of movies, but there are a lot of good ones, too! Be prepared for spoilers--in fact, just assume there will be spoilers everywhere--and come join us as we review the rom-coms Katie's dear, sweet husband made her watch.
When Harry Met Sally
We are a podcast divided! This week we discuss the rom com classic, When Harry Met Sally, starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. We both had strong feelings about this movie and the depths of those feelings weren't apparent to either of us until we got to the end of the episode! Check out When Harry Met Sally on Netflix and let us know whether you're on Team Katie, Team Lydea or Team "Just Give It a 3". Enjoy!

The Lost City
This week we are watching The Lost City (2022) starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliff, with a fantastic guest appearance by Brad Pitt. Reclusive romance novelist Loretta Sage has been forced to go on a book tour with her cover model, Alan, when she is kidnapped by the treasure-hunting media mogul, Abigail Fairfax. It's up to Alan to save the day. Good thing he packed some snacks and sensible shoes! It's actually a rom com, folks. We weren't sure from the trailer, but this move would have fit nicely in our Action Movie March (still workshopping) line up. It's an updated Romancing the Stone, or possibly a gender bent Indiana Jones with rom com elements. Lydea watched this movie on Epix. Katie and Chris rented it. They think from Amazon Prime, but they don't remember.

27 Dresses
This week we are discussing the 2008 Anne Fletcher flick, 27 Dresses, starring Katherine Heigl and James Marsden. As a bit of a teaser, Lydea changes her score at the end. Did it go up or did it go down? Ooooh! Exciting! Better listen to find out!  Lydea watched this movie on HBO Max. Katie and Chris watched it on Amazon Prime. Also, before you Google it, Elaine worked for The J. Peterman Catalog. There. We saved you thirty seconds. You're welcome!

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
All right, all right! This week we are watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Does this over-the-top early 2000s rom-com hold up almost 20 years later? You'll have to listen to the episode to find out, but as a freebee, I think we can all agree that Kate Hudson's iconic yellow dress still does!

To All the Boys: Always and Forever
We're wrapping up the To All the Boys trilogy from Netflix this week with To All the Boys: Always and Forever. Side note to Netflix: Netflix, if you make another installment in this series, we will probably watch it but we will not be happy about it! Join us for more high school drama as Lara Jean (Lara Condor) is torn between choosing Peter (Noah Centineo) and the city of her dreams.

To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You
And that will likely be the only time we get the title right. We're reviewing the second installment in the To All the Boys trilogy, which can be found on Netflix. Our extremely insecure heroine is now officially official with former fake boyfriend Peter, and she's pretty sure they're going to live happily ever after. It's not like there was a fourth letter floating around out there that could throw a wrench in the works or anything. We had fun with this decidedly more watchable movie, but how did we rate it? Tune in to find out!

To All the Boys I've Loved Before
This week, we're going back to our roots with a Netflix-original rom com: To All the Boys I've Loved Before. This movie stars Lana Condor and podcast alum Noah Centineo (A Perfect Date) and was one of the first rom coms Chris watched while traveling for business. Hooray for fun facts! You can still find this film and its sequels on Netflix.

Valley Girl (2020)
We're bouncing back from last week's movie with Valley Girl (2020), starring Jessica Rothe and Josh Whitehouse. This movie was a remake done right. We hope you enjoy this episode, and if you watched Valley Girl (1983) with us, now would be a good time to pause, rent this movie, and watch the 2020 version. You will not be disappointed!
