The story of Joseph, among many things, is a story of hope in hopelessness. It is a story of loss, betrayal, pain, and restoration. How God took a young boy who lost everything he once had and placed him in the position of a king over a nation is nothing short of intriguing. But do you know that Joseph, even without any source of encouragement like you and I have today, was able to hold on long enough through the grace of God and faith in what God had told him?

Good guilt is actually godly sorrow which leads us back to the way of salvation. Someone once said that guilt is like a red warning light on the dashboard of a car. Those red lights on the dashboard are good things; they indicate that something needs to be fixed to prevent long-term expensive damage. The same is true with some of the guilt we feel. If we allow the guilt to speak to our hearts in a positive way and cause us to correct things in our lives that we know are not pleasing to God, then that’s a good thing. Dealing with an issue quickly prevents long-term, expensive damage in our lives and in the lives of our loved ones.

But as Christians, we are called to live with a different perspective—a perspective rooted in faith, hope, and love. Today, I want to encourage you to lift your eyes from the struggles of the moment and see the bigger picture that God has laid out for you—a picture of victory, purpose, and eternal joy in Christ.
