Musical tastes can be extremely varied. Even if you like the same style of music as someone else, you may like a different artist, album, or song from that style. This podcast is here to pitch these musical opinions against each other in a tournament of champions. We’re going to explore several musical themes, the listeners are going to vote, and we’re going to end up with a champion decided on by you, the listener. The masses will rule! Sixty-four albums, musicians, or songs will enter, and one will emerge from the Madness victorious. This podcast will explore different themes. We’ll name a theme, and Kent, your music bracketologist, will lay out the matchups in a style similar to the NCAA basketball tournament. I love music of all types, but I am a data nerd at heart. These two traits will combine to pick out themes and create a bracket for listeners to vote on. Each theme will be produced as a season of its own. A theme will last about a month to a month and a half. At the beginning of them, Kent will lay out the theme and the first 32 matchups. While in a theme, listeners and community members will vote on the matchups each week. At the end of the week, we’ll walk through the winners and lay out the next matchups. Madness will happen as top seeds fall and your favorites go out too early. Listeners will learn about different artists, engage with other music lovers, and get a chance to let their opinion be known through the weekly vote. You may disagree with the results of the madness, but you can’t argue with the process. If you don’t like the result, invite more friends with similar musical tastes to listen and vote!
