I’m enraged. What an amazing job the podcast has done in establishing doubt. I pray this poor woman gets the new trial she deserves. Bravo !!!

Corrupt judge and prosecutor, and incompetent police force, typical MO for Illinois. This is definitely a show worth listening to and makes you realize how bad the system is.

I have listened to every season and I love that you visually describe pictures and other things. I recommend you to all the people I know with visual impairment.

When yall pulled the Black Lives Matter and saying people were making fun of her. Lost me there. Now I won't listen to the rest. Have you not learned? America is so sick of this lefty race bating woke stuff. I refuse to listen to another second once I hear those words.

Slow, convoluted, and underwhelming. There was surely a great story here that was lost in too many layers and not enough action

Murder in Oregon was great. Murder in Miami is even better! Phil Stanford has lived an amazing life. Thanks for making this podcast You both do an amazing job.

I don’t normally write reviews for anything. However stuff like this irritates me. I listened to the previous seasons of this show, “Murder in Oregon” and “Murder in Illinois” and had no pay wall. However this time, hit episode 4 and now to listen to episode 5 I need to pay them. Nah. I’m good. I’m not that hooked on the show. It’s just a clever ploy to get people to pay them to listen to this show. Let you have just enough for free to get hooked and then make you pay for the privilege of listening to the whole thing. Garbage attempt to get more subscribers.

Very much enjoying this podcast and definitely recommend it to my True Crime “Brethren”. But, just need to give a special shout out to ole Happy Myles, he’s like an 85 year old (no idea of his age, just guessing) Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Bet he was a cool dude that I’d fly around with about anywhere and I’d open the hatch for him (or door, however they did it…).

Loved first two seasons… this season was difficult to follow. Too many rabbit holes and story lines blurred together.

My podcast feed is pretty much all true crime and this one is disappointing. Really not much action going on. I’ve actually started using it to be my something to listen to when I went to fall asleep.

Murder I’m Or and IL were both very good. This season in Miami seems to be all over the place and hard to follow. Phil’s credibility is very low and he seems totally self absorbed on how cool he was and is. Lauren seems to encourage the entire slate of interviews, without really testing or pushing back. And there doesn’t seem to be a main pint or focus.

The Miami season is horrible . Story is interesting but it’s all over the place! Every two second a new ad throwing the momentum off and the person narrating is doing a terrible job getting the story to flow.

Anything Phil involved with seems to turn into gold. Keep up the great work!

The core story line and interviews about the drug smuggling is interesting, but SO many commercials make it tough to listen to. And the mini (7min +/-) episodes make the story tougher to follow week to week. The short episodes seemed discombobulated and an attempt to stretch the season out, not really adding value other than more commercials and 3 min of content. It was frustrating which is unfortunate because the story is quite interesting.

Great coverage of 1970’s 1980’s smuggling. Love all of Commandant Happy H. Miles tails. Sounds like he could have a book, podcast and Movie about his life. Lets hear more about the Cocaine Pirates!

Absolutely one of the most well done podcasts in all of true crime. Murder In Oregon and Murder in Illinois are also must-listen material. LBP you rip!!! Keep ‘em coming.

Everyone who grew up in Florida in the late 70’s along any coastal community knows someone or knew of someone who was smuggling one thing or another back then. The stories were a lot more “romantic” before the cartels arrived. It was primarily a “good old boy” network made up mostly of commercial fishermen. At least that’s how it was on the west coast of Florida.

This is one of my favorite pods in a long time. The production and the storytelling is so compelling. I love the way the interviews are intertwined and the perspective it brings to such a surreal period of time. The characters really pull you in and the way the sounds compliment the action makes you feel like you’re watching and listening at the same time. And each episode is more mind-blowing than the next. Next level stuff.

Doesn’t set a good scene or give characters broad context, too focused on salacious details without explaining why they matter. Pass.

Anyone who knows this story knows this producer is getting a ton of information wrong and screwing up the timeline. IHeart’s execs should be embarrassed. I’m embarrassed for them. She’s too thirsty for salacious details to understand how this story even speaks to the world we live in today. Just because a story existed doesn’t make it worthwhile to tell when you have nothing new to add. This is the worst kind of old news: it’s not history and it doesn’t help us understand how we got to the drug wars were involved in today. This podcast is a prime example of how the industry has tanked so quickly. This show isn’t about the characters, it’s about someone desperate to put out a podcast pointing at something that happened and saying, “Look at that awful person” and tell me how good I am at digging up hard to find details.

Agree with another reviewer that this series is good up to Episode 4 when you slog through the Happy “interviews” (which is listening to his stories). The host slightly acknowledges his misogyny but I guess we’re supposed to be listening with an air of tolerant amusement, like your talkative uncle who drinks too much at a holiday. I stopped listening less than half way through the episode so maybe there is an explanation for his slurred speech. I see Happy appears again in episode 5 so not sure I’ll be back.

Episode 4 is a just no for me. Seriously a full episode of listening to this “Happy” slur though his sentences was a terrible decision. Up until episode 4 I was finding this an entertaining enough listen.

“He never ran anything but grass until I turned over that load of coke to him on the island.” This guy’s line sold it for me.

I grew up in Miami in the 70s and 80s and was very much looking forward to this podcast. Sadly, the podcast’s host seems far more interested in her cohost, a former journalist turned private detective. Frankly, it’s been pretty boring. I’m halfway through the second episode and there hasn’t been much talk of an actual murder outside of pointing out that Miami was the murder capital of the US at the time. No other background about Miami, just personal stories (some of which don’t sound particularly truthful) from someone who had just moved there.

I love that the new season is a prequel to the Oregon story, which I imagine is why they decided to put these shows in a feed together. The immersive sound design and narrative driven storytelling make it feel like you're sitting at the bar listening to Phil Stanford as he transports you back in time to experience his memories of one of the more mysterious times in his life. Of course there are ads, con’t blame the creators for the policies of their network overlords… and no you don’t have to pay to keep listening, new free episodes each week!

Oh my GAWWWD, I love this series. So fascinating. I am literally on the edge of my seat. Than you Phil Stanford for your honesty and candor. And thank you Lauren for your continued quest for the truth and your ability to share it in such a captivating way.

It’s like real life Miami Vice! Lauren does a great job pulling you into the world and the music and sound make for some extremely easy listening. Highly bingeable!

I just noticed the same woman created the “Murder in Illinois” podcast. They didn’t include that season in this podcast because of the horrible reviews about Lauren. I will not listen to any podcast this woman is associated with, and that is why Season 2 is missing. If it were included then everyone interested in this Murder in Miami podcast might not listen once they saw the reviews for the Illinois podcast.

I gave it seven minutes, the story and interviewee was all over the place. Did not set the picture or scenario well.

Didn’t know I’d have to pay to continue listening, also the commercials take up half the episodes 😑

Has anyone else noticed the completely unrelated episodes that show up? Why is a Symptomatic medical mysteries podcast interspersed with Murder in Oregon?

Very good story told in a very bad way. Information is repeated often, would have been a great 6 episode series

This podcast, beyond the compelling murder mystery, answers a lot of questions I had while growing up. I grew up near Salem and from a young age I could see how corrupt the police were. The podcast is good but sheesh, those commercials. Not sure I will listen to another I heart radio podcast again. The commercials are frequent, awful, and do NOT match the tone of the podcast.

Was this support to be about politics? I don’t care if it’s Biden, Trump or Clinton. That is not what I tuned in for. You’ve lost me and I’m going to post on every platform what you are really about. It is hard to believe the corruption in Oregon. Even still going on today.

Very good and such a great example of how corrupt The Oregon Department of Corrections was and still is to this very day. As a former employee, I carry great respect for Michael Franke and wonder where the department may be today had he not been silenced.

As stated by others, this was a very interesting case that was dragged across so many episodes it was difficult to reach the end. I do not know why so much of the same audio was repeatedly featured across the last several episodes.

Born & raised in Salem, OR., the Randy Francke case has become an obsession for me. I’ve watched, listened & read everything I can find on this case but this podcast has been by far the best! I couldn’t wait for the next episode to come out.

Almost unbelievable story about very deep corruption, people getting away with murder and abuse. It seems very well researched and reported with some of the most compelling and heartbreaking interviews I have ever heard. Several films could be made from the real-life material in this podcast.

This is a very,very,good,& professional podcast. This is as if you were listening to a movie. It will keep you on the edge of your seat,& definitely a nail biter. I love this podcast! Keep up the good work! ❤️
