"If you put Heritage first, we will have horses drinking out of a trough outside the Westpac Bank."Peter Rogers is a big supporter of building and supporting local businesses. He has been heading up a self-funded campaign to promote tourism and increase the viability of the small business community in Bathurst. In this interview, Peter puts forward his views on the Proposed Integrated Medical Centre to be constructed in Howick Street as a counter opinion to the noisy and vocal minority of the "Heritage Crowd."

There is nothing more pathetic or frustrating than this example of the incompetence of the Bathurst Regional Council. After repeated attempts over 12 months to assist the Council in increasing the popularity of the loss-making museums and attractions, Peter Rogers is not giving up. One of the best-kept secrets of the Bathurst Regional Council is their loss of over $2 million per annum on our museums and tourist centre. This interview with Peter Rogers is a shocking account of how the Bathurst Regional Council has been unable and unwilling to implement the most basic business principles to increase visitor numbers and reduce their incredible loss-making enterprise. Currently, it's running at approximately $170,000 per annum.Twenty years ago, Peter Rogers was one of the founders and benefactors of the museum and worked hard to establish the Australian Fossil & Mineral Museum in its current location in the centre of Bathurst. Over the past 12 months, he has had two meetings with the mayor and the general manager of the council to offer help and assistance. To date, nothing has happened. Out of his pocket, he has produced 25,000 brochures promoting Bathurst and spoken to many interest groups about the terrible wasted opportunity to promote our museums and our town. Peter also purchased two dinosaurs and gave them to the museum in December 2020. Just like the dinosaurs of old, we don't know where they are, and we will probably have to go on a fossil hunt in the general manager's office to find them. This is nothing more than a stunningly pathetic example of the incompetence of the Bathurst Regional Council. Please watch this video and contact Peter Rogers or The Muir Report if you have anything further to add to our campaign to get the BATHURST REGIONAL COUNCIL into action.
