In this episode, I share simple ideas you probably never thought could accelerate your home ownership journey. There are people who say they are ultra austere suggestions. However, when you sit down and evaluate things for yourself, you'd realize that you can have a functional space, without the excesses, and save a lot of money. #Move with me.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about one of things that scared me. The thought of having to take my son to a day care after my wife’s three month maternity leave expired.
The biggest and most painful decision most modern urban couple, like Adwoa and I, would have to make in due time is to take their new borns to school at an early age because of the constraints in the system. If you do not have reliable help from family, you are left with taking that hard decision of throwing your new born out there into the system, with the risk contracting infections, not getting proper parental attention etc.
Our children are supposed to be our most important creations and investment. The biggest asset of any nation is its people. Their development begins at conception till they get to a point they can really fend for themselves.
From conception, pregnant women have to deal with a million and one challenges while they deal with the emotional and biochemical changes in their bodies. We do not have enough support systems for them.
We have not prioritized the care, comfort and safety of the process that leads to the continued existence of the human race, pregnancy and childbirth.
We have equally not thought about how to make the first few years of existence of children adequately structured to ensure optimal development. I see how our boy wakes up at dawn to play alone, because we are both as tired af and I’m mostly getting ready to go to work.
Our kids deserve better! We deserve better.
This will require huge sacrifices as a nation.
We should not let our women suffer what our mothers did - to let go of her dreams because of childbirth.
We must fix the system. Our spaces are always better with women living their ultimate dreams.
This morning, I dropped Adwoa and Nana Kwabena off on my way to work. Hermaternity leave is over and both mother and son must wake up early to beat the traffic and make it to work.
Our luck is that she works in a company that has prioritized the needs of mothers and their new borns and have set up a functional daycare within their building. This means mothers can see their little ones in a matter of seconds if they need to.
Only a small percentage of nursing mothers in Ghana have access to such facilities. We must do better as a nation with respect to our human development initiatives. We must review our maternity and paternity policies. Mothers must have at least 6 months and up to a year based on their circumstances with options to work at home for a period if the dynamics of the business would allow.
A nation that prioritizes its people secures its future.
A nation that prioritizes early childhood development ensures the future leaders are prepared to be competitive in the global space.
Our spaces are always better with women living their ultimate dreams.
Let’s relook at our priorities and may #Generosity lead us.
