Being a low-income, first-generation and marginalized student, I wanted to create something for the students who also share similar identities and who are still on their academic journeys within post-secondary education. In this podcast we will talk about the external and outside factors that play a role in the lives of students and their success that higher education professionals may not be thinking of or recognize. We will discuss hardship, love, access, diversity, equity & so much more! Tune in to hear stories from current un-graduate/graduate students and professionals!
Graduate Assistantships: Are They Making Grad Students, or Breaking Them?
For my very first podcast, I decided to explore graduate assistantships and how the environment in those spaces play a role in the graduate student experience and our success. Being six months post graduation, I invited three of my cohort members from Iowa State University to engage in this conversation and discuss our different experiences. In this podcast, we talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly. We discuss what went well, what didn't, what we learned and how these assistantships prepared us for the work field. We also seek to help current graduate students in advocating for themselves and what to consider when choosing what assistantship/masters program is right for them.  In More Than Just a Student: Morgs' Academia Chronicles, you are going to the real thing because real things happen in the lives of students and that is what Higher Education professionals needs to consider as it plays a huge role in student success.
