Really good but one flaw...
I'm most of the way through their Showa era Godzilla retrospective and really do enjoy their banter despite them having issues with saying something like "larvae."
However, the biggest flaw, so far, is this Theometer where Eric asks his son, Theo, about what's happening within a particular segment of the Godzilla movie in question. This segment is dull and uninteresting. It adds nothing and slows the flow of the podcast. Hopefully this is dropped after a while.
*EDIT*
Okay, I listened up to their "Gamera Guardian of the Universe" podcast where they had the Tokyo Lives hosts and they discussed how the Godzilla/kaiju community should be, and there have been a few other podcasts, that came out WAY before this podcast, that discussed the problems of the fandom. To make it seem as if one podcast is talking about this is just not true. A few other podcasts discuss this and it is the most important subject in the fandom right now.
**EDIT: January 25, 2024**
Okay, I am upping their score to three stars after listening to more of their shows. They have begun to really find their rhythm and to become a more enjoyable listening experience. The immense decrease of the Gwendar and Theometer have helped (sorry, but I don't think those segments added anything). I still have issues with their never-ending obsession with thinking most movies have a tone issue; and, to be fair, this falls more on Eric than Alex. I don't believe Eric understands the difference between a tone and various sequences that bring about action, terror, etc. and I don't mean that as an insult. I truly don't believe he understands it. Regardless, I am giving them a couple more stars and hope they get better.
Okay, on the same day, I listened to their AVP review and heard Eric's complaint that that particular movie had nothing to say after I heard them talk about numerous other movies prior and him not bringing this point up nearly as often. Seriously, you're looking for something in AVP? Your three star got demoted back to a one star within a few hours.
Let me just say I can't find Eric's critique of movies is helpful to this podcast. May I suggest Alex throw him overboard for someone more appropriate to what he's reviewing? LOL!!! Only one can dream. Sorry, but this just doesn't cut it anymore. Eric is the anchor holding down this podcast with his ego and thinking he knows better.
He doesn't. Get rid of him.

Outstanding Show!
I found this show while searching for horror podcasts. It seemed fun. First episode I listened to was Renfield. I was hooked from there. I love all the details that these guys put into this show when rating a movie. Outstanding show! Highly Recommended for any horror fan!

Thank You!
Y’all have made such an amazing and entertaining podcast together. I find myself listening at least once a day and learning a little more about my favorite films. Your guest stars, jokes, and overall friendly atmosphere lead to a truly unique podcasting experience. Thanks again y’all, you’re both awesome.

Recently started getting more into movie podcasts, and this one is a lot of fun! I appreciate how breezy the episodes are and how listenable the conversation always is. It’s annoying I can’t chime in because their opinions are usually dead wrong. Lol, happy to have found this gem.

One of the Best Kaiju/Monster Podcasts of All Time
Alex and Eric's journey from Godzilla '54 to the latest episodes of Kong & Pacific Rim is worth listening to for their development alone. Pushing through the entire Godzilla, Gamera and Kong franchises in briskly paced, tight episodes has highlighted some great insights, as most Godzilla/kaiju-related podcasts usually have. But these two have clearly grown from this entire experience over the last year and a half. It's fun to listen to how their approach to these films have shifted, evolved and changed as they embark on one movie after another featuring giant monsters tossling through skyscrapers. They're personalities are massive and there's no shortage of immediate comedy from it. Now if only Eric would do an episode dedicated to re-evaluating Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster, we'd be all set.

Eric has a great voice, and monsters are cool too!
I've been a consistant listener of your show for some months now. It's because of you guys, my husand and I decided to check out the Gamera franchise. My favorite episodes are the ones featureing your wives! Those are really funny. I love how family friendly this show is, and it's one of the few that I have no fear of listening to while in the car with my kids! Keep up the great work!

Alex loves butt-rockets
Despite the niche interest, there are a lot of kaiju/Godzilla podcasts out there, and...well, not all of them are easy to get through. Whether it's treading the same ground as another podcast or the hosts not knowing how to hold a conversation well... Sometimes a podcast can be tough to listen to, and that's just how it goes!
Thankfully, Monsters vs. Men is not that way. Both Alex and Eric are wonderful hosts, and their already-established friendship makes this podcast quite unique in the way they riff off one another. Their insights into the films are astute as well. So far, they are covering films many others have touched, but in a way that is sensitive and reverent towards the source material.
If you want a podcast that is mature and will inspire you to appreciate monster movies more than you did before, this is the podcast for you.
EDIT 4/9/2021 I CANNOT believe they reviewed Godzilla vs Kong positively. Do they not have standards? No politics = bad Godzilla film. This is why Final Wars is the best Godzilla film after the original. If you cannot pick up on the political satire in that film, then you need to watch more Parenthood. Trust me. I’m a real doctor.

An appeal for a change in hosts
Good Podcast very Kongers. However I think Alex should step down and have Gwen take over as Co-Host

Great Podcast
I was very sad when The Kaiju Apostle Podcast ended, but I found MvM and it has been great. I rarely agree with your ratings, but it’s nice to hear a different opinion.

“Zigra walked so JAWS could Swim”
A delightful podcast that is a great way for those unfamiliar with the genre to explore the world of monsters in a refreshing way. While they started off with Godzilla and went into their far superior Gamera series (cause Zigra is in it), they are now branching out and exploring the wonderful menagerie of creature features that brings a uniqueness that this “Bargain Basement” podcast to go into a different path than a certain “Black Sheep” podcast that roams the internet looking to lure folks into some really crazy monster movies.
Eric and Alex have great energy as well. Also this is one of the few podcasts where its worth supporting their Patreon cause there is some really fun content on there as well! :D

Great Dynamics
Monsters vs. Men is a great kaiju podcasts that features a great dynamic between its two co-hosts. Their back and forth feels like they have known each other for a while and I like the way they incorporate family into the show. I don’t always agree with their opinions, but I do like their different perspectives on these movies that have often been looked at a certain way for a long time.

A Great Monster Podcast!
I’ve had a blast watching these movies along with the show from week to week. They have some great insight and play off each other very well. Whether you’re first getting into these monster movies or are already well acquainted, these episodes are awesome companion pieces to go along with the films.

As good as the Guyver 2!
I love this podcast! I listen to it every week after I complete a rewatch of my favourite monster movie, The Guyver 2. The hosts are great! Eric’s dulcet tones remind me of David Hayter (Solid Snake) who happens to be the star of the Guyver 2! Alex is excellent as our guide into the world of kaiju, just like the ultimate hero, The Guyver, guides his kicks into evil doers! I can’t wait for the next episodes! Hopefully they cover the Guyver 2 one day!

On the Theometer, a 10, 546.3
With the glut of poorly done kaiju podcasts that have flooded the scene recently that concentrate on production information (and even get that wrong half of the time) I was happy to find another podcast that examines themes, messages, and gives interesting and fresh interpretations. They're now in my top tier of kaiju pods (for which they win nothing :) ) , although they're burning through these films way too fast.
Theo, the little boy of one of the hosts, is adorable and using him in the show is such a wonderful idea. I also appreciate the hosts having their wives on, and was impressed with what they had to say.
And finally, thank goodness, they steer clear of all the gatekeeping, pettiness, and fandom politics that a lot of the other pods like to bask in. Thanks for that! Entertaining, informative, and insightful, Monsters Vs. Men is a podcast trifecta.

Fantastic Podcast
This is one of my favorite giant monster podcasts. Not only is it accessible to new fans to monster movies, it is a fun ride for long time fans as well. Eric and Alex have a great back and forth, and I love hearing Eric go from complete noob to a full on Godzilla fan.

If you love Giant Monsters, you NEED this podcast!
This podcast is AMAZING! I love how Eric (the film snob) started out a skeptic but has now gloriously transformed into a die hard Kaiju fan surpassing even his cohost Alex! The guys have great chemistry and you can genuinely hear the love and respect they have for this genre when listening to them speak. They are not just film reviewers but also fans; and a refreshing listen to anyone looking to get more out of their giant monster movies.
My favorite segment of the show is of course … The Theometer! Keep up the great work fellas and try to stay alive! Proud to have you in the community!

New Favorite Podcast
As a film nerd with no other film nerd friends, this podcast is my new go-to. Alex and Eric are great hosts and listening to them feels like you’re part of a fun conversation with good friends. The in-depth and thoughtful review of each film is insightful and you can tell these two really care about what they’re watching. You’ve got the serious and silly all in one place. Highly recommend! 👍🏻

Not your average monster podcast
I’ve been through a few podcasts concerning our favorite Kaiju stars, and this one may be my favorite. From hearing about this on reddit, I was immediately excited, but still doubtful. After listening to the trailer and the Godzilla 1954 episode, I no longer have doubts. Eric’s film nut background lends a lot to the analysis and compliments Alex’s trivia and love of the series well. I’m stoked to listen to the Godzilla Raids Again episode and I am even more stoked to watch this podcast and community grow. Here’s to a successful run guys!
