What a great inspirational resource!
As an officer currently in the field, this podcast is an amazing resource for those of us who do not have ready access to the Department’s thinkers and idea-people.

Amb. Chris Hill interview
Inspiring and thoughtful episode that transcends wonky FSO talk and gets to the heart of being a leader - take care of your people, take intentional risks, and take the time to know the history of the place you are serving. Ben Reames does an excellent job of asking questions relevant to diplomacy practitioners while keeping tone conversational. Looking forward to more!

Great!
I’ve so far loved the information and insight gained through this podcast. If I can make one comment I would suggest instead of asking 2-3 questions to a guest at a time that you ask the first question, allow the answer, then ask the next one. It’ll allow you to better guide the discussion and better ensures that each question you ask gets answered.

Excellent
This is a fantastic podcast for anyone in or considering joining the Foreign Service. As a Foreign Service Officer, Jeremy Beer does a great job asking insightful questions and covering the life stories and experiences of each guest. The guests are among the most successful career Foreign Service officers over the past generation of American diplomacy.

Bill Burns podcast
This entire series of pod cast interviews by Foreign Service Officer Jeremy Beer of retired Professional (as opposed to political) ambassadors gives listeners insight into American foreign affairs since World War Two. The questions are well crafted to elicit professional as well as personal reminiscences. In this interview, Ambassador Bill Burns shares views on current stresses and strains facing those currently serving their country in the diplomatic corps. This is a fascinating and informative series! I’m so glad I came across it! Diana Darnall

Priceless for Anyone Interested in Foreign Policy
This is an excellent series that captures the personal experiences and leadership advice from some of America’s most revered diplomats. Serving overseas as a diplomat is rewarding, but it is also dangerous and tremendously challenging. The interviews make you feel like you are joining a private and candid discussion on some of the major events in international affairs over the past few decades. The interviewer does an excellent job of asking insightful questions, drawing out the details and lessons from these seasoned experts. These should be required listening for any students of foreign policy or international affairs.

Much-needed foreign service podcast!!
This podcast is a gem. It provides very helpful (and nuanced!) insights that give a look into the varying roles a FSO plays overseas and in Washington. The podcast is professionally produced, and the host asks questions that evoke thoughtful answers. Really grateful for this podcast, and hope that episodes can be updated more regularly! I also don’t think that only veteran officers should be interviewed; it’d be interesting to hear FSO perspectives along all stages of the “hierarchy,” and showcase junior/mid-level officers’ experiences as well.
