Amir shares how that “get it out the mud” attitude lead him to a basketball scholarship at Chico State which he was able to parlay into an international professional basketball career. Amir shares how he learned how to increase his stock as a player by listening to other vets in the league. Amir also shares what life is like today now that he's retired from his career in basketball and how he was able to land a career after basketball through the relationships he built while at Chico State. Colby began his working years selling shoes something he is still passionate about today and he credits much of his success in the insurance business to the things he learned in retail selling shoes and serving customers. Colby talks about how he went from earning $1500 a month in retail to sometimes earning as much as $15,000 a month in used car sales and how he had to learn to deal with the ebbs and flows of income that come along with a high demand sales career. Colby also shares his journey to homeownership and how the responsibilities that come along with being a homeowner combined with the accountability his wife holds him to have helped him make wise decisions with his money and to see it as a tool to help him achieve goals. On this week's episode of Millennials and Money our guest, former Software Engineer with Linked IN and Minimalist Rich Bustos shares his money story. Today 29-year-old Rich Bustos is on a “Sabbatical” living off the returns of his Real Estate Assets and Investment Portfolio. With passive income as well as a house paid for Rich is living quite the desirable life, however, it wasn't always that way. Rich grew up in the Bay Area and his parents worked blue-collar jobs and instilled in Rich that it's not about how much money you make but what you do with it, this is a concept Rich took to heart. Listen as Rich shares how after he graduated high school while his classmates went on to major universities and moved out Rich stayed at home with his parents and began to work retail jobs living off a budget of $400 a month and investing everything he earned above that into a Stock Portfolio. Eventually Rich got an opportunity to accept an intern position at LinkedIn as a Software Engineer and his income increased substantially but Rich stuck to his budget of $400 a month and continued to invest everything else. Rich shares how despite having more than enough income to provide for his lifestyle he found himself suffering from panic attacks and was prescribed medication from a doctor. On this week's episode of the Millennials and Money Podcast, our guest is a Traveling sales rep with Vector Cutco Marketing JC Miranda. JC grew up in a small town in Central California the son of two entrepreneurs. He learned from a young age that if you want it then you're gonna have to go hustle to get it. In college, JC got an opportunity to take a part-time position with Vector Marketing selling knives, and his first weekend on the job he discovered that he could make more in one weekend with Cutco than he did in two weeks with his full-time job. JC paid his way through college selling knives and after graduating he came to a pivotal point where he decided to continue to work full time in his role at Cutco rather than pursue a career utilizing his degree. JC does not regret his decision the least bit, in his words, he is “blessed” he spends his time at work traveling up and down the West Coast selling Cutco Cutlery at different events and shows (he is currently in a national sales competition at Cutco in which he is ranked number) JC is blessed to spend his free time traveling all over the country with friends, playing sports, and staying fit He says the key to his success at Cutco can be credited to having a good work-life balance and realizing that you get what you work for and to working hard now like most don't so he can live life in the future like most can't.

Naval Officer by day Nascar Driver by Night with Jesse Iwuji
On this week's episode of Millennials and Money, our guest is US Naval Officer and Nascar stock car driver Jesse Iwuji. Jesse's parents immigrated to the United States from Nigeria and brought with them an intense work ethic and a business owner mentality. Both of Jesse's parents worked full-time jobs and each owned personal businesses on the side. Jesse was a stand-out football player in high school and received a scholarship to The United States Naval Academy. After college Jesse enlisted in the Navy as an officer where he did multiple tours and developed a habit of saving for the things he truly wanted. Brandon considers himself more than a trainer but a guide to help people find peace and purpose in their everyday lives. Brandon shares why he feels adaptability is the key to lasting success. Brandon has been completely deaf in one ear his whole life and he considers this disability to be one of his biggest strengths because it has allowed him to have compassion on others who also suffer disabilities. After graduating with a degree as a physical therapist from UC Merced rather than taking a position at a clinic or hospital Brandon began working as a personal trainer where he's been able to serve doctors, attorneys, and many other professionals and one thing he learned from his clients and their financial struggles are that it is not how much you make, but what you do with what you make. Brandon has been known to say to his clients “one day of good eating will not help, one day of bad eating will not hurt you”, and a client shared with him how the same approach can be used to bring financial success and it boils down to tracking and commitment.
