On December 29, 1999, Lauria Bible visited the home of her best friend, Ashley Freeman, to celebrate her 16th birthday. The two had been inseparable since they were little girls, and the two families were very friendly with one another. But after the Freeman family's home was set on fire that night, police were able to locate the body of Ashley’s mother and determined that she had been murdered. However, the Sheriff’s Office seemed to drop the case completely, perhaps due to issues with the Freeman family.
