Even though this is our last message from our study in the Book of Numbers, we will have a great farewell. Why? Because we will see how the Messiah Yeshua takes the lead role in so many situations: How He fulfills the story of the red heifer (how could we ever understand it otherwise?), how He is seen in the Urim and Thumin, and in Aaraon’s rod as well. And of course we will see the tav, the cross. How is that cross seen? In the very way the tribes of Israel were stationedaround the Tabernacle. Imagine, a tav formation in the middle of the desert. It was as if God showed His tav to the world, as that nation stood alone in the desert, with a pillar of cloud and fire pointing the world to the ever faithful One. We know that all the nations of the world will day point to the only One who can deliver and free us from our own time in the desert, pointing to the only One worthy of praise. Yes, sing all you nations and let Israel say Amen. Salvation has come to us through Yeshua Ha Mashiach.. rak atah raui only You are worthy to be praised. The Book of Numbers: Sermon 21,chapters 25 to 27We decorate our bookshelves with books and we keep them in place with bookends. Look at the bookends which describe Israel. The beginning of her wanderings was marked by idolatry and lack of trust. Moses was receiving the Ten Commandments while Israel below made a golden calf. And now at the end of the journey she does the same. While God is securing blessings for Israel even through the enemy Balaam, Israel below is heading toward idolatry again; this time with Moabitess women. Bookends are used to support books from toppling over. As we consider the bookends of our own lives, what will keep us firmly supported in our walk? As we move the books around on the shelf, even one book improperly placed can topple all the others over. We need stability to hold us up on each end. I like to think of my bookends as trust and faith. Some of you might make your bookends righteousness and peace. The Book of Numbers: Sermon 20: Chapters 22-24When armies go out to battle, they think it is solely a combat of flesh and blood, but we would be short sighted if we did not realize that war is also a battle of principalities and powers. While Israel was below and totally unaware, there was a spiritual battle going on between Balaam and God. We do not realize all the works going on in the angelic realm, whether it be our guardian angel or other angels, under the commission of God to protect that which God blesses. We are not aware of the incredible protection we have against the enemy. We’ve heard of robbers and thieves trying to get in through the back door, but with God, His protection is sovereign Balak and Balaam tried three times to get a foot in the door but once again we hear the promise from God I will bless those who bless you and I will curse him who curses you.
