Hello my friend, welcome back to the podcast. Today's episode is a mind-dump of how I've been feeling and what I've been doing lately, recounted as honestly as I could muster on the pod. I also talk about the impact social media has had on my mental health, my gut-feeling goals I have career-wise, and an intention for facing fears moving forward.
If you're here reading and listening, thank you. I love you.
Until the next,
Em

I felt really good recording today's episode, recounting 8 gifts recovery has given me lately. I hope it leaves you feeling hopeful and motivated to keep going in this fight, even if (especially if) you feel stuck right now.
Until the next one,

Hi friends! I'm so excited to share this episode with you: a conversation with our first guest, a fellow Emily, Emily Feikls <3
I've known Emily for a couple of years now, and admire her for how she taps into her intuition recovery and career-wise as a young adult. We relate on a lot of the same experiences: working a full-time job while pursuing a passion project, navigating eating disorder recovery amid uncertainty, post-school/college life. I love her honesty, wit, self-awareness and drive, and am so happy to share even a little bit of that with you today.

Hi friends! Welcome back to the podcast. Today's episode is short but full -- all about how I define and trust in my recovery, and how I've grown to accept the imperfect, non-linear nature of healing from an eating disorder. It's guided by these questions from a friend on Instagram:
What guided your shift a year or so ago? What led to trusting yourself and your recovery? What made you believe that your way of healing was enough, sufficient, real, and true — not feeling like an imposter or pull of brokenness you are trying to constantly piece together. I don’t mean pseudo recovery but more so accepting imperfect and no expectation recovery.
My answers include:
The pillars of my real recovery
The pillars of my past versions of recovery that wasn't sufficient or "real"
How honesty is a central force in my life and recovery today
The importance of acknowledging how far we've come
Reflecting on these topics was intense! But so motivating. I highly encourage you to do so in your journal or in conversation with others. And if you'd like to share your answers with me, please feel free to send me a message on @eatwithcare or (the new podcast account!) @messagefromafriendpod.

Hi friends! Episode 2! This podcast is a real thing!
This one is...longer...and slightly more rambling. Wrapping my mind around my personal relationship to social media is one thing, translating that into a podcast is another.
Having said that, in this solo convo I dive deeper into:
How social media's impact on my recovery has changed over time
How blogging about my mental health positively and negatively affects it
Tools I rely on to maintain a healthy relationship with social media
And in the outro, a reflection on recording and sharing another episode of the podcast...
I hope you enjoyed this reflection. Thank you for taking the time to listen to it. The feedback I got on episode one was so encouraging (and exciting). I'm really happy you and I are here.
Until the next one,
Em

Welcome to Message From A Friend! I'm so excited that you and I are here. I've been wanting to start a podcast for over two years now, and believe now is a better time than ever to start. I can't wait to explore this new platform and have more personal, casual conversations with this community.
In this first episode, I touch on...
challenging perfectionism in the recording/editing of the podcast
the story behind the name
a summary of what eatwithcare is and my relationship to blogging
a summary of my recovery journey
my intentions for the podcast*
an invitation for ideas from you!
*I spend a couple of minutes talking about how I don't want to give advice on the podcast -- I think the wording here is a little misleading. I would love to carve out space to give advice if/when it feels right. So advice-giving isn't off-limits, it's just not what the entirety of the podcast is going to be.
Ok, I think that's it from me. I can't wait for episode two -- I have a few ideas floating around but would love to hear more from you. You can shoot me a message on Instagram -- @eatwithcare :)
Until the next one,
Emily
