Media Nation - April 27, 2022 - Trudeau invokes Emergencies Act, Inflation in Canada & 6 local courts into one building in Toronto Downtown
The Emergencies Act passed by parliament in 1988, should only be used by the government to deal with extraordinary emergencies such as if the country is under attack. So why did the Trudeau government invoke the Emergencies Act to violently shut down peaceful protestors and shut down bank accounts of people who supported the truckers? Why is Trudeau refusing to release the results of the inquiry into his use of the Act? Ryerson University is being sued by 15 students who were deregistered over their vaccine status. Litigation lawyer Ryan O Connor says this has a damaging impact on the students who cannot complete their academic year because of Ryerson's vaccine mandates. Sarabjit Sara purchased a property with two houses on it. He and his family live in one house and he rented out the smaller house. The tenants paid one month's rent but stopped paying rent after the first month. It's now more than two years and the tenants owe 25 thousand in back rent. Sarabjit Sara says the Landlord and Tenant Board is doing nothing to help him to get these tenants out of his property or to force them to pay the back rent. Are you planning a trip to Cuba? Municipalities share a lot of the blame for the housing shortage because they have thrown road blocks in the way of building houses across Canada. Franco Terrazano with Canadian Taxpayers Federation says the 452 billion in new spending is not addressing the need to balance the budget or pay down the debt.
