Life in a Post - Covid World
I recently had the opportunity to chat with Nurse Sarah (@shesinscrubs) about what it was like for both of us as healthcare providers to take care of patients at the height of the pandemic during the months of March & April. Our experiences on the frontlines were emotional as we both navigated a healthcare system in two major states (New York & Florida) that had limited resources to take care of a vulnerable patient population under siege from the coronavirus. We also explore together our hopes for a better tomorrow and how our generation can learn to cope with the mental difficulties we have all gone through over the past few months. This is a real conversation that will highlight the challenges we as doctors & nurses struggled with through the virus and our visions for a better tomorrow.

The Rise of the Coronavirus Outbreak
The Rise of Coronavirus is causing a world wide scare, halting gatherings and transportation in every country. As of March 15, 2020 there have been 162K cases of Coronavirus and over 6K deaths. That works out to be a mortality rate of over 3%. In the US we have 3,244 cases with 62 deaths. The World Health Organization (WHO) is suggesting that the rate of transmission for the virus is roughly 2.3 new cases meaning that we are likely going to see a rise of the virus for a while. There are plenty of people concerned or who are having anxiety about how best to protect themselves and their families. There are also many misconceptions out there about this virus and plenty that we still do not know clearly about. I hope to dissipate some of the fear that we are now facing in the country in my podcast "The Rise of the Coronavirus Outbreak".I am fortunate to have Dr. Kelly Cawcutt MD, an Infectious Disease specialist and the Associate Medical Director from Infection Control & Epidemiology University of Nebraska Medical Center to give us insight into this Coronavirus to dispel some of the misconceptions, and provide us with suggestions of what we can do to protect ourselves, family, friends, and community.
