Many Christians struggle to hear God's voice because they seek audible communication instead of learning to discern the Holy Spirit's primary method - His witness within our spirit. This witness is an inner knowing or certainty accompanied by peace, not dramatic voices or signs. To follow the Spirit effectively, we must practice three principles: Reverence (respecting the Holy Spirit as a person), Recognize (acknowledging His presence and identifying His witness), and Respond (acting on what we receive). Biblical examples like Luke writing his Gospel and Peter's bold preaching demonstrate how the witness guides believers. Rather than seeking extraordinary voices, we should develop our relationship with the Holy Spirit and learn to distinguish between our spirit and soul to properly discern His leading.
