Show notes
Jimmy Kimmel is doing his show from New York this week, and Mayor Mamdani was a guest. President Trump announced yesterday that the biggest steel plant in the country is going to be built in Iowa. Senator John Kennedy is working on a bill that would stop presidents from naming buildings or anything else after themselves while they're still alive. Iran’s economy is hanging by a thread because of the war; Mark talks about what that could mean going forward. Billy Joel is putting over 70 of his motorcycles up for auction, and some of the price tags are wild. Rod Stewart says he’s retiring. The new “Comics Unleashed” show on CBS with Byron Allen is doing so well in the ratings that CBS is making a primetime special. Mayor Mamdani apparently texts with President Trump a lot. A terrorist attack aimed at a U.S. military base in the UK was stopped before it could happen. Former special counsel Jack Smith is testifying before a committee today. The Yankees wildcard game starts tonight. Good Morning America might be shaking things up after losing to The Today Show in the ratings for the first time in 15 years—some people think it’s because the hosts don’t get along. Mayor Mamdani is also going after a few big-name CEOs and billionaires in New York, which could stir up trouble for him. Mark interviews NY Post journalist Michael Goodwin. They dig into why everyone’s talking about Mamdani getting cozy with Governor Hochul, which could be because she just wants to win the election. They also talk about what Bruce Blakeman needs to do to beat Hochul in their upcoming debate. If he wants to win, he’s got to get a bigger turnout in NYC. Democrats keep going after Trump for stuff other presidents have done, but as he started it, Chuck Schumer is leading that charge. A new study says more men are taking Pilates now. New York City is ranked number one for best pizza, and Mark lists some other great pizza spots around the Tri-State Area. Mark interviews author Mark Malkoff. Both Marks look back on the 72nd anniversary of The Tonight Show, which Johnny Carson used to host. Steve Allen, who came up with the show, never imagined how big it would get.
