The definitive resource of “who” in the maker community.
Dave’s podcast focuses so much on the people in the maker community in a fun and curious manner. Such a big contrast to the typical “what project are you doing this week?” format. It’s Bullseye for makers and how could you say anything bad about that?

Highlighting makers.
Not every podcast really listens to the folks they talk to. Some of it is talking at where there is some sort of pointed agenda. Dave just asked questions and then listens. Drawing out what makes various makers tick, and the reasons that they do what they do. Look for each episode.

Curiosity rocks.
Dave has a good way of interviewing his guests to see how they view their art and how curiosity fuels their experience. Give it a listen.

Fantastic podcast with great and interesting guests. Dave is a good interviewer who doesn’t get in the way or talk over guests.

Great to hear artists talk about their craft
Dave does a great job at finding interesting folks to chat with and then having a natural and enlightening conversation with them. I’ve started following so many new artists and makers from listening

“Making Problems to Solve” — The Podcast That Proves Overthinking Is Just Pre-Engineering
If Bob Ross and MacGyver had a podcast baby that was raised by a room full of caffeinated makers armed with epoxy, optimism, and a suspicious number of clamps — it would be Making Problems to Solve. Host Dave Bauer doesn’t just talk about creativity; he wrestles it into a functional contraption that probably hums, leaks sawdust, and still somehow inspires you to start your own half-finished project by lunchtime. Every episode is like hanging out in the world’s friendliest workshop — full of laughter, unexpected insight, and the faint smell of burnt solder. Dave’s guests range from makers who can turn literal trash into treasure to artists who think “safety third” is more of a lifestyle than a rule. They talk about design, failure, triumph, and the cosmic truth that sometimes the best way to solve a problem… is to make an even bigger one first. You’ll come away from each episode ready to glue your fingers together, order tools you don’t need, and proudly tell your friends, “I’m not procrastinating — I’m prototyping!” If your idea of self-care is reorganizing your scrap bin or arguing about the merits of metric vs. imperial, this podcast isn’t just for you — it’s your spiritual home. So put on your safety glasses (and maybe your sense of humor) and hit play. Because in Making Problems to Solve, the only real mistake is running out of duct tape before the outro.

Fantastic discussions that make my brain itch in a good way and the origin stories from makers of all backgrounds. 💪

Fascinating Guests
Each episode introduces us to a new person, someone whose own experience helps us to see a bigger world, especially regarding how to think about problems and situations. I’ll never personally have their experiences but the lessons and wisdom shared has helped me understand and think about my encounters and helps provide possible contexts and thinking paradigms to see the bigger picture.

Community podcast
Dave is a great host, he listens well to his guests and allows them the space to speak their minds and has a very supportive attitude along the way. He’s built his platform around supporting all the makers and creators he loves and it shows from his catalog of episodes.

Dave is a Pillar of the community.
I was inspired by Dave’s recent episode with Paul Meyette when he described Paul as “a pillar of the maker community” to realize that Dave himself is a pillar of the maker community. I consider Dave a friend and have been a fan of this podcast from day one, and was proud to be a guest pretty early on. Since then Dave has really hit his stride and sounds very comfortable interviewing guests and leading the conversation when necessary. That being said, this podcast is definitely conversational and Dave is happy to follow the path the conversation leads down, rather than sticking to pre-written questions. I have learned about many new and interesting people, especially ones that are a little outside of my main interests, through listening. Keep up the great work!

Dave has a real talent for tuning in to a Maker’s story—and you should tune in, too. His podcast shines a warm spotlight on Makers, creating an inviting atmosphere that draws you in. Each episode features artists, creatives, and skilled professionals from a range of disciplines who share the joy, challenges, and problem-solving that come with the act of making.
