Shares of preferred stock are not quite equity, and not quite bonds, but are they really a Goldilocks middle-ground between the two? Preferred shares have characteristics of both bonds and common stock, but most importantly; they are an additional asset class that can be held to further diversify your portfolio while providing an income.
