Alicia is the hardest working professional in the biz, and it shows. She’s as expert in her craft but still works three times harder than her peers to be top of the game, time and time again. Her brilliance and charm is evident in everything that she does, this podcast included. And her mission to shed light on all aspects of above and below the line filmmaking is a much needed breath of fresh air in a very challenging industry. No doubt she is inspiring a long line of progressive and thoughtful future filmmakers and critics.

Alicia is a perfect host. She is curious and well researched, and asks a good question and then allows her guests to talk about what they do and why they are passionate about their work. I love hearing about the different types of film work - especially when, as she said, below the line work is so interesting and yet not talked about quite as much as the more profiled jobs. It’s just really fun to hear people who love their work talk about it with someone who is also passionate, smart, and a good listener.

This is such a great podcast! I initially picked a couple episodes that interested me, but it was sp good that I kept coming back for more. For the past couple years I've been trying to get into podcasts and I'm happy to say this was the one! I'm now all aboard the podcast train. Alicia is an amazing host! The show is kept at a good length and flows with a good pace. I love how even though she has questions to ask, she never interupts her guests. I like how she asks them about what got them started in film and where that passion came from, as it helps me understand more about the speaker. Alicia also picks a wide variety of talent from many different fields in the film world, which makes it intresting and easy to keep coming back for more. I really loved it when Alicia Malone hosted the wonderful Filmstruck podcast back when that streaming service was around so I was really disheartened to hear that that service would be discontinued along with that podcast. But thankfully, she’s back with Magnificent Obsession. Alicia Malone always asks thoughtful and insightful questions of her wide variety of guests and has an impressive breadth of knowledge of many different facets of the film industry. She is also impossibly charismatic and her adoration of the magic of movies is downright infectious.

Alicia Malone shares the same passion (and obsession) of film as her listeners, and it shows. Extremely well-versed in cinema, Alicia knows her subject matter inside and out and obviously takes the time to fully prepare for her interviews. While her interviews with members of the filmmaking community are insightful and interesting, Alicia has the talent of making them less “interview-like” and more of a comfortable conversation which the listener feels they are a part of. If you are a film lover, you are in for a treat with Magnificent Obsession. With Alicia Malone back at podcasting, my cinephile airwaves are whole again.
